A New Floor and the Texas Branch!

This week was fun and festive even though Abigail chose not to be born ....
It started with me finishing up the fine sanding of the kitchen floor at Broadstone. Cheryl had initially chosen to stay home and walk to the front door and up the stairs to use the bathroom during the resurfacing rather than go to a hotel. But when I mentioned that we would be putting a cupboard in the doorway to the kitchen, she recanted. So we had to make arrangements and I took her to theComfort  Inn down Main Street by the Freeway.  Then came home and ....
Put on the stain.  I ran out for a visiting teaching visit that evening, then Dad and I had dinner watched some HGTV in the family room. So weirdly nice.
On Tuesday, Dad put on the first coat of Varithan before heading to work.  I walked with Ginny then did another coat before doing some blogging.
Then I got the last coat on before heading to Pleasant Grove for Scott's track meet.
When I got back I went down to Spencer and Brit's apartment where she did all the technology wrangling to buy tickets for us to go on a girls' trip to Texas next month.  She said she has to move her lap top around to find the Internet sweet spot!!
I went on another visiting teaching visit that evening before wrapping up gifts for Emily's baby shower. I wrapped Nell's gift and included it.  I wrapped everything separately and included a small gift for each person in the family!!

Then on April 1st, yes, April Fools, these two announced their engagement on facebook, which was fun. He'd proposed on their cruise in March and waited for the perfect day to share!!!  Congrats! And Welcome Hannah!!
On Wednesday Dad went and brought Cheryl back and Then we headed to the airport.  We stopped and did a couple of errands including s quick visit to see Grandpa.   We flew out around four, with a stop over in Denver
When we flew into Austin we saw enlargements of Texas specific vintage sheet music framed in the corridors.  Loved it!!   We got in late and after wrangling a rental car we finally got to Emily and Sam's after midnight.
But still got up bright and early ...
For a delicious breakfast.
Then we had the 'baby shower in a suitcase'.   William loved the minky dot quilt that Aunt Nell sent.
Becca liked her Princess doll and the phone she got from Aunt Darby belatedly from Christmas.
And we just enjoyed our grandkids of the southern branch.

... Sharing cell phone pictures.
Later we went downtown to our favorite Good Will and found these chairs that were 'just right'.
We went into an open air market we'd seen, called Market Square, where I saw Cascarones, decorated eggs that are full of confetti that Mexican-American Catholics use as part of their Easter celebration. The eggs are crushed over the head of a person and are supposed to bring good luck.

The market was charming!!

Then it was back home where Emily made another delicious meal.

Early on Friday Dad and I took off for Round Top for the largest flea I've ever seen.
6 miles out of town the traffic stopped and crawled.  We stopped for road side markets.
And found lovely antiques.  Though most were too much money to buy for resell.

I would have loved to bring back the cupola, though.
Dad was great to fetch and carry for me!! He even said he liked it after I bought the char, then he always had a seat!
The kids were in bed by the time we got home, and we were ready to go to bed too.
On Saturday, while Sam was at work, the rest of us went to a flea that's in San Antonio.  It's a family style market with amusement park rides in the middle.
Cute train riders!!  When we got home the kids went down for naps and we streamed conference.
On Sunday we watched conference together again, mostly when the kids napped, but it was fun to discuss the various talks and share our favorite quotes.

Then it was time for an egg hunt!!

Including Cascarones we'd scattered with the eggs.
Confetti for all!!!

Then William opens his birthday presents and ....

Enjoys his cake and then it's ...

Clean up time, followed by bed time and streaming the last session of a wonderful conference!!   It was a great week with another week ahead looking forward to the arrival of Abigail!
