Fun with Friends and Family that May or May not Involve Vintage Junking!

On Monday, I spent the day cleaning up from our Dr. Suess  Bash, and catching up on blog posts, doing three in all.  That evening, after dinner, Dad and I went to the Parkway Care Center, where Trevor and Nell and their family were presenting a Family Home Evening.

Trevor gave a lesson, Eva did a flannel board story, Scott accompanied the opening and closing songs, as well as playing a musical number.  Eva did a repeat of the night before, and read, with dramatic effects, "Green Eggs and Ham" ...
Trevor and I having photo wars.

This gentleman has a wife with severe Alzheimers.  He is like the perfect spouse, I love to see how gently and loving he is with his wife Cheryl.  His name is Elmo, but in real life, in a suit, he looks like a Harvard Professor.  Such a very nice man.

On Tuesday I finally made myself cut my hair ... I have been intending to try it for something like two months.  I just finally made myself, worried as I was, and I liked how it turned out, and now that I know how to do it, I'll save $25 every third month, right!!

I also ran some errands, including returning my library books, and found that there is a new used book store in town ... in the original Payson library building, of all places.

I also went to the hardware store for staples so I could upholster the seat on the chair I painted.  I usually just list items I have at the antique mall on our ROCC Wednesdays ...  so I was determined to have a real reclaimed project ready!!  But that night when CJ, our personal plumber came to finish up the prep work in the attic for the bathroom in the master suite there, he bought the chair.  So  I ended up listing something from the shop the next day, anyway.
Wednesday, before work, I stopped and visited with Jane Johnson.  I used to visit teach her before they split the wards, and promised her I could keep in touch.  I do love and admire her, but it took me 6 months ... and it was a lovely visit.
On Wednesday, I took in my faded and damaged pyrex bowls and marked them two dollars each.  I posted them on facebook, on The Utah Pyrex Pirates page, but before anyone seeing the listing could come in, another pyrex fan bought them all ... within about an hour.

I moved a couple of shelves around at the antique mall to make my booths work better .... this is my red kitchen booth.
I took the red shelves our of my tea party booth, after I had glass cut for this white wire shelf, that I thought looked much better with the tea things and wrought iron table here.
I also found this shelf at work, that Dad is going to work into our kitchen cupboards, to give the impression that they aren't what they actually are ... 70's oak kitchen cabinets ... I hope it works.

On Thursday morning Dad and I were off early to work answering the phones at the KSL-Primary Children's Radioton.  Here are Grant and Amanda, who Dad and I have woken up to each morning on KSL for the last 30 years ... Grant retires next week, it seems impossible ... but true.

Carla, an antique dealer from the Ogden area, who has done fleaology before, saw that I was at the radiothon on her Instagram page, and came over to see me!  How fun.  She is an electrician, and has been working on the new construction across the street, which is a addition to the hospital and is connected by a sky bridge.
and as we leaving we importuned Doug Wright, another favorite radio personality, to stop and have his picture with the Heuers and me.

Since I'd taken a half day off work for the radiothon, and didn't have to be back to work until 2, I stopped at this cute vintage consignment store in Sugarhouse.   I found the perfect plinths (corner pieces) for the kitchen window, where the wood work was cut away when the tiled that wall in the 70's  ... now with being back to the brick wall the missing base of the window frame needs something and I think these old architectural pieces will be perfect.
It such a cute store ... Then I was back to Springville for a half day of work.
That night  Dad picked up Subway Sandwiches for us that night, as I was so exhausted.  Isn't he awesome!?

On Friday Becca came by and met up with the closer who was in charge of Cheryl signing papers for selling her condo.  Becca said it was the fastest signing she had ever done, Cheryl asked no questions, and had no concerns, but she did note that the first set of papers had her name with a middle initial, which she doesn't have ... oops ... the closer had to go and get a whole new set ... that's when Brady, shown above, came and got the kids!!  So fun to see Becca at work!
After making dinner for Dad and Cheryl, I headed to American Fork to meet up with the Reclaimologists and Other Crafty Chicks (ROCC) for a girls night out.  We ended up with 6 of the 19 in the group ... but it was fun to get to know these girls better ....

However in a completely uncharacteristic move for me,  I was actually the first one to leave at 10:10 ... what a party pooper I am!!

But I needed to start out early the next morning to  be first in line for the Vintage Whites Sale.  I picked up Wendy at 8 and we got there before nine, and were about the 30th in line, so we got the Swag bags they were offering to the first 50 in line ... here we are shown with Julie E., with whom I work, and who got there at 8:30!.

Above I am shown with the girls who organized the show in the first place ... this was the third year, and its an amazing success.

Here Wendy and I pose with Jenn Reed, a former fleaology partner and friend! (Did you notice Jenn has antlers?  That would make her very happy, she loves antlers.)
Here I am with some of the ROCC girls again .... several of them did booths at the show, so it was fun to hook up for a minute!
This is Wendy's and my photo booth master piece ....  After I got home I crashed for a bit, before scraping myself off my chair to go grocery shopping with my main man!
These are the goodies I got at Vintage whites, except for the pyrex pieces that I got to resale at the DI in Sugarhouse afterwards.

I taught Relief Society at church that day, but the lesson kind of fell flat ... I guess I wasn't as prepared as I like to be ... alas.

We invited Spencer and Brittany up to share dinner with us, then ... we had our study group with them, we've been trying to read Jesus the Christ together every Sunday, but usually only make it about every other Sunday ... still I am learning a lot, and enjoy it very much.
Dad face timed Emily after our study group, and we all visited for almost an hour.  We are really looking forward to seeing her in just a couple of weeks!!  Woot Woot!  And hope things work our so that we can see our newest granddaughter as well!

  1. Love the haircut! You did good! I want to cut my own hair and save money but I have no idea how to figure it out! I love that pyrex is so popular! It just feels like "home" to me. Love seeing the Radiothon vicariously. I hate that they don't do evening shifts anymore. I'm very impressed that Trevor and Nell's little family did a family home evening at a care center. Very cool. I am always amazed by your many circles of friends and the variety in your life!
