Our first category is holiday decor, we took down the Valentines and Mushrooms trees, and all the heart decor. We put up Spring and Easter decor.
Our second category is activities. Here Davin and Bri et al had fun at the Natural History Museum, then they went to Liberty Park, where you see them here.
Dad and I got to enjoy a loud and long parade to celebrate Payson's Boys Basketball team winning State.
Category three is hanging art. I moved the larger Minerva Teichert to the left side of this corner to make room for this oil painting copy of Christ's Second Coming. I found it at DI for $10.
I framed and hung the smallest mushroom picture here that my friend Kim did for me.
The floral I added to the top of these old, original floral paintings, is one I bought from Jenn at The Grove.
The rose painting here was traded out with a rose print. I also bought it from Jenn at the Grove.
I've been collecting paintings for this landscape corner for several month. A few we have bought at the hundred dollar shows over the years. One I bought from another dealer at The Grove who was showing what she'd bought on a recent buying trip, and then three small ones I got for a dollar a square inch, from an artist in Logan, on Marketplace. They were $35 each. That made me smile.
Category four is our work. I worked three days. I hauled this book case from one spot in the mall to this position and filled it with Classic Library items.
Here are the bottom shelves.
This guy came in and I thought he looked like Chip Gaines, as it turns out he's a former work associate of Dad's. His folks have a historic house just west of Liberty Park, and he said its across the street from the first pioneer encampment after they entered the valley back in 1847.
This group of gals was on their way to a Relief Society sisters resort in Spring City. One of them bought some of those resin grapes that RS sisters made in the 50's, I thought that was classic. The funny thing is that they are from Sugar House, and when I told them I was born when my family lived there. They asked where and when I said Hartford Street they all laughed, all of them but one lives on the alphabet streets there. We are in line according to the street we live/d on alphabetically. The one to my right lives on Imperial Street. I told them about the plat map of the neighborhood we have hung in the bathroom and they want to see a picture.
In the evenings I have been working on framing small pictures for The Grove,
So, when I worked Friday, I redid this little arrangement.
Dad finished up several projects this week. He finished the trim and mudding around the back door to the Carriage House and painted it too.
He was home when I sold the fireplace mantel we had in the master bedroom. (Market Place) He got busy plastering up the damage from taking the mantel down and painted the wall to match the rest of the room.
His corner strips finally came, and he was able to finish up the flooring on the steps to the balcony.
He also cleared out the 60 giant pizza boxes he'd brought home in the van, and was able to fold them down so they fit in the garbage can.
Back to the second category, activities, found me at my book club tea party after work on Thursday.
The gal on the right here is Brittany, who actually went to High School with the author of our book, Esher Hatch. The book we all liked was called A Proper Scoundrel.
We actually had twelve ladies there, which might be the largest meeting aside from Christmas, that we have ever had. Sandy, on the far left here was our host. She is Brittany's mother.
In Texas Abbie is doing one of her favorite activities, she is reading the third of the Work and the Glory books. After she finished two she was hot to read the next, but they're not really available in Texas, so Dad sent her this one. (We're bringing them the rest of the series the end of the month.) I loved it when Emily told me she said "Mom, why didn't you tell me that Joshua was going to get married again?"
In India, where Monkeys play ...
These folks were having a fun activity at a nature preserve.
Looks like fun to me.
Another activity some of the Talleys participated in was a debate tournament that Bekie and her Dad attended.
Looks like a great Dad and daughter time.
Another fun activity that we and the Summers got to enjoy was seeing Titan singing with his chorus with both the band and the orchestra. They have a great program.
Here we are afterward.
We all went to Chili's after, and Dad and I had Shrimp Fajitas, yum.
So, the fifth category is misc. stuff. These four boys were in our Primary Class today. So strange as most of last year we had 6 girls ...
This cutie came late and was sent into the wrong class .... darn.
Dad posted this on Facebook. He got some push back but still wanted to put it here. I feel the same, but I'm just not about to put it out there, when I know people are pretty upset about things. But then dad never had a cross burned in his front lawn, when he was a child, it was pretty terrifying.
and last of all, I thought that this short article published the year before I was born, was very inciteful.
