It's a new week without much in it. But at least our grands are doing fun and interesting things.
Monday, I worked on my craft room. Then I decided to bring down the two corn pitchers to put with my other green and yellow majolica. Dad went to Barbershop that evening.
Benny went in to get his tonsils out on Tuesday, all went well. Maybe it's not the most fun, but he did get unending device use.
I went into the mall on Tuesday and found the store stuffed with cameras and equipment. I am not sure why they set up in the front doorway, but there was a cute display there. Gretchen, on the far right, was being interviewed on film for a BYU student's assignment. They were there for 2 and a half hours.
While working on my craft room I had been gathering bits of junk jewelry for my friend Linda Priest, who met me at Treasures on Tuesday, so she could get the first pick. Here she is showing her egg covered with jewels that she is making. She bought about 35 pieces from me.
Dad had an appointment with the tax man. Yeah Dad! I miss the days when we got a tax return.
At work on Wednesday, Vicki and her sister brought in lots and lots of goodies to fill their almost empty booths. I was pretty impressed with how much Vicki could get in a cart.
Dad went to the family history center that day and is learning to put various videos and DVDs onto a thumb drive. That night he had me watch several of them, including Becca and Davin's wedding videos, as well as my own home movies. I don''t think he knew it would take two and a half hours.
It was also Grandpa and Grandma Perkins anniversary.
It was also fun to see this video that Adi and another student made for antibullying month. She is so cute and animated.
Friday was Parks' first birthday, and he celebrated it in India. It's hard to believe our sweet baby is so grown up.
On Friday Dad and I drove to Salt Lake City to an Estate Sale that had tons of art. I found a print of a Scandinavian Santa scene for our family room by Robert Duncan. He is the artist that did the mother in a white nightgown holding a baby in a sideview pose, that we had hanging in our Orem houses. We also bought two small originals, one which is unsigned, and looks very, very old. The other is a Utah artist I had not heard of. I also found this cute little red trunk to finish off the stack in our bedroom. I'm waiting for some stencils to come before I paint and try to make them look old. You know me, always happy with more storage.
After the estate sale, we went to Capitol City Antique Mall in downtown. I found this cute little cupboard, the same little cupboard I sold at the Grove a couple of weeks ago. They bought it from me for $53.99, and marked it up to $75.00. Not much of a profit margin, once the store takes 15%.
When I went in there it was in hopes of finding a green glazed yellow ware bowl, to add to my collection. The only one I have seen in a year was $95. They are that much on Ebay too, once you consider shipping. So, I went in there with a hope and the idea that I wouldn't pay more than $50. Then Voila! I found not one but two that fit the criteria. One was 22.99 with some damage, and the other was, I am not kidding, 49.99. It had a glaze chip.
Happy me. They just happened to be the largest size of the two bowls I already had on the ends of this display. Now the new ones are face down, with the previous bowls, that match them and are just one size down on top of them. I think my angels inspired Dad to offer to go there. Thank you honey for making all my dreams come true.
We stopped at the Longhorn steak house on the way home. On Tuesday a gal who was at the store, said she loves their soup and salad lunch special. I had a Cesar salad and French onion soup ... so yummy. Dad had a seafood bisque and a green salad. Never thought I'd be tempted by a Steak House, but being pescatarian comes in handy. And it always makes me think of Ian, who taught me the word.
On Saturday we drove up to Salt Lake to get miles on the van, after having it fixed, so Dad can get an emissions test tomorrow. I loved this Indian Motorcycle sign a lot. We went to the Trader Joes in Draper, next door, because the one in Orem was out of chocolate foiled wrapped coins we were giving to our Primary Kids today. The kids colored a picture frame last week, that we had laminated that day, with pictures of them. The frame said " The worth of ______ is Great in the sight of God. Then on the back I wrote, "You are more precious than all the gold in the world to Jesus." Then we stapled on the chocolate gold coins.
That's also the day that Becca took her two youngest out hiking to Battle Creek Falls in PG. Hard to believe one can hike in the mountains during the first half of March! They had a ball.
Harkening back to the kid's favorite movie growing up. Belinda gave it to the family as a gift, after she left home. It is the only video we actually wore out and had to buy again. Always so relevant.
After church we came home to get a bite before heading to another church. I made some sugar free chocolate chip cookies. I decided to try to cook up one to try it, as we had to leave soon. It didn't go so well. I had smoke pouring out of the microwave for minutes.
Not one edible bite, but when I baked the rest of them after getting back, they were fine.
On of the couples we served with our second year was released, they are Ken and Joan Hardman, and they live in PG. We and the Crumps are the oldest missionaries to have served out there in this picture, and there were some new couples who came who are just starting out. It was so fun to see so many old friends, we have such wonderful memories of Mosida.
And last of all, Eva got to go to New York with her Dad on a business trip. She is looking at the Statue of Liberty here, when I first saw it I thought her flying hair was some kind of modern sculpture she was looking at. So, she was looking at a sculpture, it just happens to be an antique.
