Sam took Abbie and William on a camping trip for Spring break last week, while Emily stayed home with sick kids. Looks like they had a great time.
Eva and her Dad spent a few more days in NYC, getting home Wednesday.
Brady spent the better part of the week on his fishing trip in Patagonia, with work associates.
My big excitement was finishing up cleaning the craft room Monday and Tuesday.
It still needs more organization but is pretty functional again.
On Tuesday I got up to the Grove to add a few more things.
Abbie has been getting paid to read The Work and the Glory, not bad for a 9 year old, (She'll be 10 next month) Dad and I have been watching the 3 movies, so it's been fun to hear comments like "Mom, why didn't you tell me that Joshua got married again." She just finished the 4th book.
On Tuesday we took dinner to Nadine Evans in the ward who had a fall and broke the tail end of her backbone. They can't glue it, so for the last 3 months she's had to stand or lie on her left side. (They worried that the glue would contaminate the spinal fluid.)
We all ate together, then watched this Hallmark movie that was perfect for Dad and me. Besides being filmed in Finland and including a bunch of Finnish cultural stuff, the focus was a dog sled race. Since the Iditarod was happening at the time, and I'm hosting an Iditarod Book Club party the end of the month, it was perfect. Our book club read The Cruelest Miles, about the race to get diphtheria serum to Nome in 1925 during an epidemic, it's the event that kicked off the idea for the Iditarod, some 50 years later.
At work on Wednesday I put together a cute little tea party display for my Tea Things booth. Dad took an extra temple shift that day.
On Thursday I put in this pocket watch display, with tiny hands holding the watch, under a dome. It was Julie's, and I still have a few more of her items to get into the store.
Dad had his regular temple shift that day.
On Friday we went to lunch with the Crumps. They are looking forward to putting in their papers in May and hopefully getting to serve in Nauvoo. This will be their 3rd mission, but first to serve away from home.
On Saturday Becca brought us a lemon merengue pie for Pi Day, but the sweetest part is that she stayed to visit for almost an hour. Thanks Beckster
We had a nice sabbath today. Teaching Primary is always fun. We have 3 boys with divorced parents we get sometimes, and all three were there today, totaling 7 kids, our largest group this year.
I made myself up ribbon sandwiches for lunch, which is always fun.
Joyce called later and told me the funniest story, so I thought I would share. She said she went grocery shopping for the first time in weeks, and got in line ahead of a cute little family. She felt chatty and started talking. She thought the little boy looked like another little boy, and mentioned that. One thing lead to another and the young father asked her what her name was. She said "Joyce Larsen", upon which he asked if she knew a Doug Larsen. "Yes," she said, "he's my brother." To which the young man said, "He's my grandfather" Joyce was talking to Ben Larsen,, Andrew's son. So, the cute little boy was her great, great nephew.
Then after I had finished the blog Sara Marjoniemi called. She and her family lived in our ward on our on our first mission. They even had us over to dinner. The Finnish couple who visited us a couple of weeks ago are her parents. So, she and her two girls and a couple of other relatives came by to see the house.
Here we are with them. It was so fun. Her cousin lives here in Payson and she said she has always wanted to see inside our house. With the craft room being tidy, they even got to see that.
So not much happening this week, but I am thrilled to have my craft room back in shape, especially just in time to show it off.
