Monday started at Mosida, as usual. The Guys worked on getting out handcarts, while the gals worked on getting sticker weeds out at the Bessemer Bend site.
We left early because Dad had committed to work at the Living Tabernacle.
Here he is.
at home I was working on pricing things for Fleaology this weekend, when there was rattling against the dining room window. It was hailing like mad, I felt so bad that he was out in this.
He got home in time for us to go to Crumps to have dinner with the new missionaries from last year (Us, Crumps, Smiths and Childs) as well as last year's Trek directors, the Parkers. It was good to get together.
I loved this picture of LaVern and Ron after his mission, but before they married.
It was also fun to see LaVern's collection of Beatrix Potter figures.
On Tuesday the guys took the tracker out with a boring attachment, and they made holes for the new metal posts that will support the shade covers at the vignette sites.
We girls got to pick up stuff from the old farm dump
Sisters Smith and Marvin.
A former Bishop of the Crumps is shown doing some final welds before the supports go up.
That night Dad called a hoedown out by where Barb and Randy live.
I got a kick out of these two gals hoedowning while holding babies. So much energy.
On Wednesday I gathered all my English stuff together for this shelf at Treasures.
Dad went out that day to do more woek on the shade covers. And here they are putting up poles for a new sign at Fort Seminoe.
Afterwards he picked me up and we went up to Traverse Mountain where we helped celebrate Sister Kate Petersen's wedding. Her groom is from Germany, and they will soon go to Switzerland, where they will both get advanced degrees. The Sister in Pink is also a Sister Petersen, Cami, and on the end is Annika Finley nee Quick, all from our first mission.
It was fun to see one of our customers, who I've known for ten years, on her insta account, 'the house that Lars built,' ten years ago when she won a contest on a talk show for her fun hat, in connection with a British royal event.
Another beauty, a new customer, showed up at Treasures when I was working on Thursday, and bought the tiny (18 inch waist) skirt I brought in on Wednesday. It fit her, and doesn't she look adorable?
Dad went to another Hoedown on Thursday night at the Copperview Stake in South Jordan.
While I went to my bookclub, where Suzanne, in an attempt to make food that went with our book "West with Giraffes" In the book the giraffes just love onions. So she made carmelized onions and served them on french bread toast with cream cheese. She also made a great onion dip for crackers and raw veggies. She did it all tea party style, that was a lot of fun. And speaking of old friends, in June we will celebrate the first meeting of the book club, twenty five years ago. Though I have been a member for only 23 years, some of the gals here are just a year or two in.
Ann shared this picture that she and some friends took doing a tea party in front of our garden house on Monday. They were doing a challenge sponsored by the National Parks Counsel, in an attempt to get people outside doing stuff. I thought that was fun. They came in 5th, out of hundreds of teams.
Here Sandy gives me a smile.
First thing Friday, Dad and I worked on filling up the van with lots of goodies for fleaology. Then we headed over there and put out all we had brought, before I headed to Pleasant Grove to work at the Grove. My permanent Day now is the last Friday of the month.
This customer was pretty cute when she bought this crown.
Jenn's done a lot to make the outside of the store cute too.
While at work I ran across this quote by Joseph Smith that I love, and if I could find my charity notebook I put together on our first mission. At least I can save it here until I do, and you can enjoy it too.
Dad, meanwhile, having dropped me off at The Grove, had continued up to Darby's where he worked on the cement board for the tile surround in the bathroom.
and added a small cupboard atop her pantry cupboard.
After he picked me up from The Grove, we headed back over to the fleaology site to do still more set up, getting home after dark.
This past weekend at a celebration to end the academic year at the U, Scott was a speaker.
He had some family support too, as Nell takes a picture of her boys. Trevor even wore a U of U tie for the occasion.
Early Saturday I was at my friend Sherri's house, mainly pricing, but also doing a little shopping.
Here are the folks in line. The first two are compatriots in the business. Lisa and Tiffany. Lisa has a store in Provo, and Tifani sells on Market Place, though she does sales at her house too, and was nice enough to let me come to a personal buying appointment this past Tuesday! Both are super talented women.
How clever is this cute coal shuttle turned planter?
Here are a couple of shots of my booth.
And three dealers who set up together. The gal in the middle is back for her third time at fleaolgy, her name is Christine and she is soooo talented.
These are the owners of Fairy House Antiques in Provo.
This is their double booth, they said this is their last market.
Here's our Jenn, the owner of The Grove. The sweater she is wearing was made by her Mom from the afgan I so loved there last month.
Her mom is so entirely clever.
The former antique dealer from the mid west was back with his goodies. They are string holders.
Lisa always finds the best stuff.
Here I am with Ashley of @thecozybee.homestead ... who I met at Treasures a few weeks ago. She and her husband and four kids are moving to Missouri next month, having bought a farm, and planning to rehab the house while living in a rental in town. They plan to start a pumpkin patch in the fall, and will also be growing the pumpkins this summer.
Here her dog meets another tiny breed dog. As it turns out we found out that she grew up in Jennifer Reed's ward, and knows her well ... yep new friends and old friends again.
This gal bought my dragon for her Zen garden.
Soooo many customers.
and so many friends, old and new... Vicki Hunter, a longtime fleaology dealer and Cindy a dealer at Treasures, me with Teri Quigg who Robin has known since College, a new friend wearing Marimekko pants, whose mom is a Finn., then me with Heidi Harmon, who I don't remember, but who says she has known me since the early days of fleaology, arount 2010. Then there's Jenn Reed, who I know from the same time period, and next is me with Julie Smith, who I met as a missionary at Mosida a bit over a year ago, but who I am sure will be a life time friend. Next is Lisa Martineau, with Tiffany of ' Furniture at Tiffany's and last of all is a very new friend, Ashley Breitenstein who will soon be farmsteading in Missouri.
Hannah and her family spent the day up Hobble creek hiking. It looks like they had a great day.
Here we are at Relief Society ... It made me laugh, because to the left is a new friend, visiting kids in the ward, she is Sister Pertersen, and on the right of me is an old friend, who used to do fleaology 15 years ago, she is also Sister Perterson. So my second set of sisters Peterson in one week.
On the way home we stopped to talk to Jim Madson about some wiring Dad needs to do to hook up the sauna. He told us that the middle of this house, across from his, was originally the baptistry building in Payson. The creek runs just to the left where the tree is now, and the baptistry went across the creek. It was later moved, and built onto to become this house. I love local history, amd Jim who is a fourth generation Paysonite is good to share the stories.
When we got home, I found a great place for this wire cloche, given me by a friend.
Then we had another pairing up of old friend new friend connections. The Steels, lower left, and I met at Treausres a couple of months ago. Then on Friday Trudy Peck, who is serving a mission in Africa with her husband Gordon (They did the sheet rock for our attic bedroom) called to say they'd come home from their mission for a medical procedure, and did we want to get together while they were home, perhaps this weekend. I knew that we weren't free either Friday or Saturday, and had commitments for Monday night and Tuesday night too. I asked them to dinner on Sunday. Later I thought we should have invited the Steeles too, as I knew they were friends, so when I called Trudy back later to ask if that was a good idea, they were actually having dinner at the Steeles, what are the chances. Well, the Steeles daughter and husband were there, at the dinner, and we invited them too. (Austin and Makayla Bascomb )
Hearing stories about their mission was just incredible. By the way, they are collecting old cell phones to take back with them for the people there, in case you have any desire to donate one or two, thanks to our kids we had 3 to donate.
Later we got a message from Trevor to the effect that Grandpa Milt's brother WW Perkins (William Wendell) had worked with an artist with whom we had become acquainted, with during the first decades of the 1900's, and look we have one of his paintings. So since he is listed in the Utah Artist book, we realize now, we have a listed Utah artist's work.
And in other news, look who's adding to their life list of temples. This is the Tahiti Temple if you haven't guessed.
Last of all Dad wanted to wish you all a Happy May Day, as I write these words it is midnight, and in one minute it will be May first. Perfect timing, eh?
