All That's Pretty in Pink

So, we started our week at Mosida with two wards from Elko, Nevada.  This is the tallest boy, with the shortest boy on their trek.

this is one of their medics, he's a doctor.  In fact, they had 5 doctors ... so why are there 5 LDS doctors in two wards just over the border of Utah in Nevada?

This couple does reenactments of the Pony Express Ride in June every year.  We plan to be out on Redwood Road for the reenactment next June.

They started out with a dedicated medic hand cart ...

They brought this chuck wagon to set the mood.

Chuck cupboard and all ... it belongs to the Pony Express people.  Soooo cool

Here is my new pioneer dress from China

Trek 2023 or Bust.

Charley was reenacting nothing, she had her own drama, as she is about to get her braces on.

Dad went to Cosco and bought a laptop and a new personal computer, which we really need.  Both are archaic and slower than sludge.

Monday after morning trek work, I headed out to see Eleanor ... who was doing her piano lesson downstairs by the time I got out my phone for pictures.  Here we see Nell with their new puppy and Penny with a crocheted 'ghosty', she ordered from Eleanor.  Isn't her pink dress with dots the cutest? Eleanor did a great job of painting my toenails red and dotting them with white ... I have my own pedicurist now.

I needed perfect toenails as my art group was meeting on our friend Jann's birthday to honor her.  She passed away last spring.

Everything was perfect ...

Including the heirloom China.

Margo and Connie

Kimi and Becky

Shirley, Margie, Trina and Joanne, our host.

Me with Shirley

The whole kitten-caboodle.

There was a half hour family history video of Jann done by a neighbor last year.  That was perfect.

and Tuesday morning ... how many senior missionaries does it take to screw in a light bulb?

Here they come as we await them at Fort Seminoe.

But LeAnn had a visitor to keep us entertained while we waited.

Its time for the Jens and Elsie Vignett Dad brings over the hand cart.

Here we sisters chat while waiting.

LeAnn has the red shawl on from the Red Shawl story some groups choose to do.  She is always cold ... when we huddle in the shade, she sits on the edge of the shade so she can get some sun too.

Now Brother Marvin, pulls his wife, as they take the cart back to its space.

Just too cute.

Sisters Crump, Marvin and Newman.

Lavern shared her memory grouping with us ... the Mosida is written in arrowhead chips.

When we got back we found that a truck had broken down, and that Elder Smith had come over to look at it ... he is with Elder Marrott, our Young Service Missionary.

On Wednesday, Sister Marvin had the history ... she told about this tea pot her g g grandmother owned in England ... she was a new member, but was struggling with not drinking tea.  The word of wisdom was not a commandment at that time, but she wanted to be obedient, but it was a struggle.

One night Hannah dreamed that she had died and was at the gates of heaven... she had her tea pot in her hand, and tried to throw it away from her .... it stuck to her, she could not get it loose.  When she awoke she went out and took the tea pot out back and broke it ...  Obviously someone put it back together, I thought that was a fun story.

Here we are at the river crossing.  This young man and his sister, in the pink dress, were my visual aids for Emily Wall and her brother Joseph.  It's a story from the women's pull.

I love the sisters lined up on the side of the river ...

Now its time for the Priesthood walk.

and here is an after picture of the Doctor and his wife.

Sister Newman and me.

and this is how some girls keep in touch ... yep, that Reagan and Bekie, facetiming.

That night we went to see a movie of the play Oklahoma which was done in the 90's with Hugh Jackman.

lots of people were there in Pink to see the new Barbie movie.

Here is Kelsie, Barb's daughter with her friends when they went to see it.

a shot from the preview in our theater of Barbie.

Yep, its us again.

A real Barbie.

When I worked on Thursday Keith came over and showed me this picture of him as a baby, that he had colorized ... yep, more pink.

These are going around, I'm the Barbie on the bottom right, yeah, I don't see it either ... but the gal on the top left, shared her 'Barbie persona on the top right ... I think they got that one right.

and speaking of getting it right ... yes, we did. Spencer is our baby, and it was his birthday on Friday.

I'm greeted by pink morning glory on Friday.

Then it was off to Salem Pond for some kayaking...

Me and Ann

that's me again,

This is a picture that Janie took of Ann and I at the fountain end of Salem Pond.

and here is our Janey.

Dad spent his Friday finishing up at Darby's

Darby said thank you with a gift certificate tree.

Here it is at home...

I ran to DI after kayaking and before work ... This gal put together a 500 piece puzzle to make sure it had all its parts .... whoa.

At work these cute kids came in ... she had crocheted mushrooms

I got pictures so I could share them with Lu.

After work we met Mary at Magleby's for her birthday.  I thought this floral was just stunning.

These double pink roses are just perfect.   She added the yellow roses to represent her friend who died about 6 weeks ago.

Here we all are, except for Chuck who was feeling ill, and me, as I take the picture.  Happy birthday Mary.

On Saturday, after a morning junking, we headed to Salt Lake to meet Spencer and Brit and their kids ...

Nice boots!
Dad got a Calzone.

'
Brittney and Cam ...

love these kids.

Here are all of us after lunch for Spencer's birthday ... it's crazy that my baby is 33.

Back at the house playing with Moose.

and reading ...

Ooooh la la, a pink box from his sister Britt.

And his wife who is making a strawberry - lemon curd cream pie, his favorite, for his birthday ... more pink.

and a new pink swimsuit for Cam.

Kimi wanted to get in on the pink Barbie stuff too.

And this is Krista's nod to the pink Barbie movie attendance rage.

Krista with her exercise group .... hahaha.

Today we got to meet our Sister missionaries.  The gal by me is Sister Perkins. Dad and she did relatives around me, and she is his 7th cousin, but through the Snow line, not the Perkins line.

We actually spoke in church this week for Pioneer Day, and all these missionaries came back to join us.  I thought that was so lovely.   Dad talked about Levi Savage and I talked about Emily Hill (Woodmansee)

At home Dad put up the Mad Hatter Tea Party Weather Vane, that had come, and which he said he'd have up for our Pioneer Day Celebration.

Can you see it on top?

About 7 the kids started to arrive for our celebration.  I thought it was so cute that McKenna put together a Pioneer outfit.  How cute is she?

Here she is with Trevor and Nell's puppy, with Reagan and Adi looking on.

And look what Eva got for her birthday last week Pink Crocks.  How perfect.

Here we have Hannah, Scott, Dallas and Darby.

Nell, her grandma George, J. Scott, Eva and Trevor.

Elias, Adi, Eleanor and Titan.

Dad with Becca and Brady, and Trevor.

Briahnna, Nell and Grandma George.

Becca, Brady and Dave.

When you have to eat Darby's homemade delicious tiramisu with a spatula.

Ready for fireworks.

Grandma, Scott and Janelle.

Let the fireworks begin.

with Adi doing a sideshow.

and Eva snuggling the puppy. Rosie.

The lights and smoke were bothering J Scott's eyes.

and to all a good night ... from Scott, Darby and Dallas.

We had a great week and loved seeing most of our local grandkids.  We hope your week was grand as well.
