Friends, Past, Present and Future.

We were out at Mosida on Monday, where the guys put on the recycled corrugated sheet metal that someone donated u[ on the structure they'd been building.

Here's the support team.

This amazing set of elk antlers was donated by the Marvin's.

On Tuesday I worked on my book booth and unfortunately had someone take 3 books from the midst of it while I was still working on it, which led to some sorrow on my part, as they were lovely antique books.  Sometimes this business can be so frustrating.  But we have to remember part of the retail business is shrinkage.

Dad spent Tuesday out at Mosida again, where they finished up the roof.

That night Dad picked me up at work to go to Lindon for a Hoedown.  This one had Amy Coleman Hintze as a ward member, who has two daughters going on the trek.

Unfortunately, not a trek we are leading.  Amy grew up in our Salt Lake ward and is Ashley's age, she married, the much younger brother of Dad's friend John Boren's wife, Janet Boren.  Amy told us that Janet has cancer.  We just had dinner with them at Clark and Kimberly's place last spring.  Amy said that Janet has only known about her cancer for a couple of months. Clark's first wife, and Kimberely's first husband both died of cancer, sadly.

Here we are with Amy.

On Wednesday we went to my friend Jan's funeral in Alpine.

These pictures of her as a young woman are fun.

Here are some art group friends who also attended.

I felt our great loss as we sang, "When such a friend from us departs, we hold forever in our hearts, a sweet and hallowed memory that brings us nearer Lord to thee." I am, however, comforted by the knowledge that Jann was prepared by an extraordinarily good life, to live with Jesus.  I hope and pray I can follow her example and enjoy the same sociality there as we have here.

Back at work, after the funeral it was interesting to see this bird's nest that was evidently built in a crafter's yard.  Looks how colorful the strings are that the bird added.

On Thursday Titan graduated from 6 th grade.

Congrats!

At work on Thursday I was on Instagram, and saw that one of our customers, who is a designer, had some of her work published in this book.

Here is one of the pictures on her post ... the blue and white tea set is one that I sold at Treasures ... evidently to her client.

Here it is at my house back in 2019.

This is the picture in the book.  That's kind of fun.

That night at book club our friend KD made tons of wonderful Greek food.  We had read a book called, the Island of the Missing Trees, some of which was narrated by a fig tree ... yep, only one of us really liked the book, but the food was amazing.

KD went all out with the fun food.

On Friday Dad went to Darby's and finished up all the tile work, though it still needs grouting.  He said as he put the tile saw away (Thanks Brady) he thought, "I won's use this again until I build the shower surround for our Sauna/Spa room." He's pretty zoomed.

We got news that Abigail's picture at this splash pad is being used for advertising this year.

On Saturday we headed down to Spring City for their annual historic home tour.  At the first house I ran into the owner of Brambles and Blossoms, Lisa Martineau, along with a favorite artist of hers, Susan Gallacher, whose house we toured.

Another house framed samples of the linoleum that was under thr carpet in the house when they bought it.  The top one was under the second pattern.

In the same house was this small single bed in a room that was 6 by 6, so even smaller than the Conservatory at out house which is a whopping 8 by 8.

This photo was featured in another house, as evidently the original owner was one of the men who was imprisoned for practicing polygamy.

The whole town smelled of lilacs, and since ours are now a week past having any scent, it was a bit of a treat.

Dad wore his Veteran's hat and had several people thank him for his service.

One house, the one shown behind us above, had been a bed and breakfast, and sports the wall paper border we used to have in the parlor when it was gold.

This gentleman had had this folk art painting done of his great grandmother's home in Denmark, by a great uncle, enlarged by an engineering firm.  It was fun to hear him talk about the significance of items and people in the painting.

This log cabin  was moved by another man from Richfield, and he explained the Norwegian building methods.

Another home had the same light fixture we have over our stairs.

This was another cabin that was moved, but it was not put back together the way it had been originally, but more recycled into a larger cabin.  This loft reminded us a vacation home we visited in Finland, where we slept.

We ran into many friends, including Joyce and Rick.  Joyce is my friend Jann's best friend from childhood.  We saw them at the funeral, and then I saw them again on Thursday at Treasures, so in the last four days I saw them three times.  They are very fun.

I loved this painting and think it would be a fun one to copy.

We thought this door would fit in at our house.

Here are Nat and Jenn Reed the owners of the Grove Vintage where I work once a month.

We also ran into Meridean Lindsey who was in our training class at the MTC before our first mission.  We also ran into the Newmans who we serve with at Mosida, that was fun too.

After working with Nikki on Thursday, when she told me about this movie, we tried to find it on Tubi, on Friday.  We did finally find it Saturday night, and loved it.  The problem is that it has two names, the other is Becoming Ms Bennett ...

Nikki  bought  a copy of this movie from me Thursday, and was thrilled (Of course at my cost) as its a favorite of hers, as well as mine.  Greer Garson was the main character in Random Havest, the movie from which my mother took my name.

I had bought this Emma and we watched it Friday instead of the P and P knock off ... so it was a pretty Jane weekend.  I love this Emma, I think that Mr Woodhouse (Bill Nighy) steals the show. I tried to get him as he jumps the last step of the stairs, but it didn't work too well.

This is a fun picture of Bekie wearing the dress I made for her mother to wear at Ashley's wedding.  It fits her perfectly.

and here is her picture thanking her Papa for his service.

as well as Abigail's.

Eli, Adi and Nenna went with their folks to Colorado, here they are with a young moose.

How awkard is this pose?

This Moose was staying with Trevor and Nell's family over the weekend, she's even cuter..

Here is the fun toy that Hannah and Scott got to play with over the weekend. He was redoing some landscaping in his back yard.  Whoa.

Meanwhile Charlie got to meet up with Jason Segel, of How I Met Your Mother fame.

We had a lovely sabbath that including exciting things like Sunday naps and sushi for dinner. We hope you had a great weekend too, heck, we hope your whole week was amazing, and that you got to spend time with those you love, after all, when all is said and done, its really just all about the people you love, right?
