House Tours, Out Doors and Dance Floors.

Dad went shopping on Monday and got himself a new black suit for his upcoming Barbershop Competition in Colorado next month.

On Tuesday I made sushi and fried rice to go with the spring rolls we'd gotten from a neighbor as a fundraiser, together they added up to Asian Night at Nadines ... then we watched this fun Halmark movie.

I found this cute account on insta, where she redid 3 rooms in a doll house to match three children's books.  Good Night Moon in the bedroom, I'll Love You Forever in the bathroom, and If You Give a Muse a Cookie in the kitchen.

Here's a closeup of the bathroom.

At work Wednesday a man bought this terribly old suitcase, it was amazing.  I wished I'd seen it first, Dad's glad I didn't.

Dad did house chores while I was gone including putting a hook eye into the corner of the roof so we could hang flowers there on the balcony.

Becca showed up on Dad's running ap as a friend running in Washington DC, he thought that was fun.  Of course, she's at a Real-estate Conference and is training for her marathon in the fall.

Dad also got the tickets for us to fly to the cruise and back, how exciting is that?

On Thursday I took off work, and Dad took off at the temple so we could go and see this sight.

They were time worn and jet lagged; but they were a beautiful site to see.  Trevor had come to bring their car and we came to haul their impressive amount of luggage, all three of us were in tears at this site.

Trevor closed in for his hugs.
Then there was the off-loading of luggage.  I wish you could have seen what a pro Brittney was, as she hauled some 8 or ten bags from the carousel, before the rest of us brought up the rear.

Van was determined to help too.

Trevor and Spencer loaded up 2 luggage carts with most of the nearly twenty pieces of luggage.

Then off they headed ...

Mimi finally got her some hugs and kisses in the parking garage.
some cuteness personified. She's at such a cute chatty stage, that it's a joy to be around her.

Papa got the van loaded up.

Brittney worried about our exhausted Spencer driving, so Trevor took the wheel, and we got the bonus of driving Spencer to the hotel.

Here we are, Dad has one of the two luggage carts ...

The kids finally get some down time, as does Moose.

Big brothers are always doing interesting things, and I should know.

And Parks is having fun with the now empty luggage cart.

On Friday morning I was off to kayak at Salem Pond with Ann for the first time in the rain, after years of summer kayaking ... it was actually kind of pleasant.

The raindrops caused floating bubbles, and the rings expanding was fun too.

Of course morning on the pond is always beautiful.

I'm so glad Ann got us excited about Kayaking several years ago, we've loved it.

After kayaking I went to a couple of garage sales and saw that they were in the process of tearing down the old seminary building by the old high school.  I was gathering my second load of bricks when the project manager said I shouldn't be wandering around the site in flip flops.  When I said I would just go home and put on shoes and come back, he said he and his mom, the business owner, would grab me the rest.  How nice are they?  I plan to make one line of the white bricks in my memory wall.

When I got home, I tore apart this hanging plant that we got for $5 because some of it had died out ...

and put them in my stair step planter.

Later Dad offered to set me up with a spread sheet to transfer the books I've read since August of 1998, so that I can isolate information, like which Agatha Christie books, or Anne Tyler books I've read, or even how many times I have read Pride and Prejudice.  I'm almost through the first of the 5 book journals.

Dad had made an appointment with this gal to come and see if our house will work for a BYU student film she is making. That's always fun.

Then we ran out for dinner at Cafe Rio, and a drive up to Midway ....

To attend a community theater production of ....

Pride and Prejudice. As you can see they moved the 'stage' to in front of the actual stage, probably because of the dance scenes.  It turned out great, and I loved the 6 and 8 couple 'country dance' routines they were able to fit in.

I loved the set.

And the wallpaper is the same as the paper I have in the conservatory.

This is Lydia and Wickham.

Mr. Collins and Charlotte

and the rest of the family.

On Saturday Dad met up with some others to work on a couple of home remodels of ward members.  This month our ward is sponsoring a Service Fiesta, and will culminate with a Mexican theme dinner, and piƱata the end of the month.

I think Dad enjoyed it but was exhausted after 5 hours.

I got my new herb plants out in the garden.  I have the mint, of course, and lemon balm.  This year joined by the lavender, and now the English Thyme and rosemary.  Our tomatoes are coming along, now with some hot days, they may ripen.

We were about to head to Leigh's wedding reception, when we noticed people wandering in the yard.  Dad saw them and put the newly laundered basket of underwear in the closet before coming down.

As it turns out, Lily from our basement apartment, is friends with one of the gals, and she called me, from the yard to see if her friends could see the house.

We are so glad we hadn't left yet.  The gal here whose name is Jeri is the granddaughter of the man who bought our house at the tax auction back in 1935 and made it into apartments, while building two other houses to the east. They evidently lived in the home after making the apartment upstairs, and renting out the two other rooms singly, and they shared the original bathroom.  Which is exactly what I surmised.  The builder and his wife used the main floor, and had the addition split into two bedrooms, as the laundry was in the basement then.  They lived there until about 1953 or 4.  It was so cool to hear about that time, and to find out that her great grandma had passed away in a rocking chair that came across the plains in a wagon, in the north-west corner of the dining room.  I know that the granddaughter who lost the house during the depression was born in the house in 1910, I've always figured her brother was born there too.  Then her mother passed away in that bedroom the next year in 1911.  I've always figured there were others too.  So fun to learn a bit more of what this house has seen.

At Leigh's wedding her bridesmaids, all nine of them, wore lime green Jackie O suits with pill box hats.  This gent is wearing his wife's hat, which just made me laugh.

Here I am with the mother of the bride, my niece Kristin.

Here she is with Leigh, her husband and her great uncle Bruce.

Of course we needed our shot.

Their was a program with a mixture of Hispanic (Leigh is half Hispanic) and Italian (her husband is half Italian) traditions.

Here they are with some family and friends for an activity.

Her father, who has operatic training sang.

The groom is doing a dance. His two nieces did a fun fifties hop number too, but my favorite was the general dancing at the end.

Three couples place an orange between them and competed while they made set movements.

Leigh and her husband won.

Their friend played to old organ the has been an icon for years, the old Organ Loft.

Here they are, so adorable.

Time for the sendoff.

Here they are in a 1960's car. The whole event was delightful, and Dad said the food was amazing.  I know that Kristin's sisters made all the food, so I am not surprised.  I got to sit next to JoLynn during the program and do some catching up, so that was a lot of fun.  Leigh had planned it all, and it was so very artsy, just as I hope it would ne.  (Her bridal photos and her announcements were both of an artsy bent.  So delightful!)

Now here's a baby picture, screen shot from a video Dave sent us of the two Carlos and baby McKenna.  Definitely a keeper.

And news of Perkins from afar, one of Scott's cousin once removed, Christopher (his cousin Mark's son) with his family as he was set apart as a bishop in Denmark this week.  Dad is friends with his Mom, Christopher and his wife, Lisa on Facebook.  Mark passed away some 30 odd years ago in a Coast Guard Helicopter accident.

This evening most of the kids and their families joined together to celebrate Father's Day a week early.  Here are Madi, Van and Mac.

Fun to have Scott and Hannah back with us.

Another tree stump picture as families start to leave.  We had a delightful time and enjoyed seeing everyone!
