Changing Seasons

I ran across this collage of our garden house in all four seasons, and I thought it was a good one to use to kick off the blog on seasons this week.

This picture was actually taken of the wreck that almost delayed us last Sunday in our trek to Idaho.  It turned out that the guy driving the car carrier, reached over to get his drink off the other seat and lost control of his truck ... he might just be entering a new season of employment.  Just glad he wasn't hurt.

Its Monday and Charlie is ready for school, definitely coming up on the end of the school season for her.

Here's Dad with some one on one with his number one, or should I say his first daughter.

Alex fixed up his grad cap for the ceremony.
Here are other caps at his graduation that I took later in the week.

I managed to get some junking in a couple of days, and saw this beauty, who is definitely past season.

We spent all evening on two days TV time binge watching the new series on Netflix called The Four Seasons, shown above in this collage, the picture of Carol Burnett and Alan Alda is from the original 80's movie of the same name, and basic plot.  Alan Alda even did a cameo in the Netflix series.  I just have to say, we think season was a vast improvement on the original movie.

Brittany, thankfully, put us to work, shopping and gathering goodies at multiple stores, for a house she was staging just over the Stateline in Oregon. Here's hers and my 'bed', two folding tables together with a bed in a bag, etc.

We stopped at the Ashley furniture in the town and bought the lovesseat on the right, and a kitchen table set.  Britt and Dad managed to bring them to the house in two trips in Mike's SUV.

What a fine team.

I suggested this accent chair, but was vetoed ... hmmmm

The next Day Becca came to swell the size of our house party.  So Britt now had her A-Team ... we laughed that they both wore one color outfits as their real-estate garb,

Britt's shirt says, "Ask Me About Real Estate", Becca's say "House Husler"

And they do know how to hustle, as they carry the goods out of Hobby Lobby ... can you say "Cheap Olive Trees?"

After an hour's drive they are at it at the house.

What a pro.

Here's the finished Living room.

... and the Becca tweaked bed ...

Kitchen corner.

The beautiful kitchen set.

I did choose the gorgeous rug! Becca found the set of chairs on Market Place.

Down time while the photographer does his work.

But when we got back to Britt's,  the work was not over ...

and this time we're folding money for Alex's lei.

Dad even got into the fun, I mean Ben used to do those Origami hearts from dollar bills, and Alex is also into the folding arts.

This is the basic flower we were folding.

Papa be so proud!

He works well as a mannequin too as Britt fastens on the flowers.

Then Britt takes over as model.

The girls, who are just a month apart in age, seemed to enjoy each other.  Here they are playing a video game.
Princesses of course.

Helping Mike make dinner on Tuesday they were stuffing pasta shells here.  Mike also made some Japanese curry, which was yummy too. I should mention that both of these girls finished up Elementary School this year and are moving into the new season that is Jr. High.  They'll be amazing, don't you think?

Here's Reagan catching up on her computer with friends at home.

Then it was time to head to the beautiful Egyptian theater in downtown Boise. Here is Alex's slide in the student slide show.  He is one of 60 graduates, less than ten percent of the number of Eva's graduating class.

The beautiful Theater

Here he receives the honors. I just have to say, it was interesting that the principal, who is obviously a body builder, showed up in a tank top unitard and flip flops.  The school is called Sage International.

Becca, Reagan, Dad and I were in the balcony, while the others were at the back of the main floor.  Here is Charley with her pink pet. Did I mention I love balcony seating?
He was allowed 10 seats in the theater, and here he is with his ten.  Reagan, Becca, Charlie, Papa, Mimi, himself, his Mama, Kai, his Papa, Bachan and Grandpa.

Alex and his Besties.

We drove home after Alex's graduation, arriving home at 1:30 A.M. Then on Thursday I went off to work, and Dad did his temple shift.  We ate dinner together and caught one of our few remaining Castles episodes.

On Friday we were up and at it.  I managed to sort through 10 of the original 70 boxes of books.  I seem to be creating about 3 to 5 boxes for the store over those that will be at the Antique Garage Sale we're having in July.  There were still another 20 boxes when I was done.

Then, as you can see, we got together with the Kews for lunch at Rumbi Grill!  They were in town cleaning out a storage unit that had been housing the remains of their shop equipment.  It was great to catch up!

We had driven separately, because Dad was to attend the wedding of Adam Sellers who was one of the last group of missionaries we got in Finland on our second mission.  Here are some pictures of the event. The bride and groom are shown dancing.

I headed to The Grove to add a few things, including the picture shown in the bottom left-hand corner next to the right hand. hahaha Then I headed to Salt Lake for a buying appointment. It was a great haul, and I think I spent more on it then any I have attended over the almost 30 years I've been in the business.

On Saturday I got back at it in the Carriage House.  There were lots of books with papers in them, so I found these drawings, I am guessing done by the wife of the couple, but the amazing thing is that at first glance, both of them looked like my work.  I felt so connected to these folks the whole time .... so many of the same interests we have...

I found a copy of my health bible.

And a copy of our favorite Hannukah Story.  There were also lots of vegetarian cookbooks, art books, especially Minerva Teichert (Yes, I am a happy girl).  Someone also did leather work, made jewelry, they were both in the Tab choir, and collected books on place history, as well as tons of music books, travel books, books on ghost towns, and other history.  Very few novels, though all but one of the Harry Potter books made the cut.  I hope I get to meet them on the other side. I feel like I've shared their lives with them already.

This is his book plate.

I was able to finish sorting the last 20 boxes.  Of the seventy boxes I kept one box full to tear apart and sort for junk journal kits I'll be selling at the mall.  There were also two boxes of keepers, including the Minerva Teichert books, the many de Paola books, a couple of the more interesting veggie cookbooks (like Shades of Kale), and other art books.  I'd didn't think that was too bad out of 70 boxes of books.

I finished up in time to make a nice vegetarian salad I had gotten out of said cookbooks, it was made from bulger (Sorry Doug, I promise it was good) kidney beans, and baby greens. Then we headed to the Crumps house for a missionary reunion dinner.  I took these pictures of her fun pastel decor to do an insta post.

You can't see everyone here, but here goes, the Hardmans, the Smiths, the Perkins, the Ewells, the Harrises, the Lathropes, the Hayes, the Newmans (New Directors), Debbie who was our nurse, the Gurrs and the Crumps.  We served with all but the Harrises, the Ewells and the Hayes, who came on as we were leaving, though I already knew Lynette Harris from the antiques business.

Here we reenact the famous picture of Rob, Rod and Ron. We had a great time, and enjoyed catching up with these now, old friends.  We were released from our mission there in February of 2024. Which effectually place us in a new season of our lives.

Pictures of our music director in Primary today, she always does such fun things.
Now in the other news department we have:
Eva and her lifeguarding buddies.

Eva on the guard stand.

The tree that is no more.  It was cut down on Monday when we were in Idaho.  Now both of the south side giant Cottonwood trees are history.  It will be perfect for watching fireworks in town in the future from our balcony.

Trevor found this fun picture of Davin and Ben, back in the day when Trevor and Nell were in their first house, and the boys came to help out.

And last, but certainly not least, you get this picture again, because it was 10 years ago today that Grandpa Carlo passed away.  The last of our children's grandparents to do so.  But though that may have moved us into another season of life, we will always honor both of our sets of amazing, forward thinking, faithful and hardworking parents.
