I just love spring, it's so colorful, as was our week. These are all pictures I took of flowers in our yard, though some were of trees hanging over our fence from Coralee's yard. And I said to myself, "what a colorful week!"
First thing Monday we followed through with our threat, to save the environment one paint can at a time. These were all old paint cans, some left in rentals, some left over from our projects and some I actually bought at garage sales. What was I thinking, we retired a total of 6.
We started joking about being color kittens. If you read last week, you know that I bought a copy of Dad's childhood favorite book on line, The Color Kittens. In the book the kittens are painters and mix colors.
Here is Dad with his big mixer for mixing up grout for laying tiles, but it worked just dandy for mixing paint too.
I said that I hoped the Color Kitten Book would come this week so I could include it here, though it wasn't scheduled to arrive until next week. Then Voila' it showed up on Saturday!
I was gone on Tuesday and Dad got busy painting the spa room in the basement.
The color was more powerful than we expected once it was dry, but still, a favorite color of mine.
It looks great.
I meanwhile was playing with colors too, with my crafty friends, mainly Easter colors. We made and decorated Easter Bonnets.
We even 'wore' them for a picture, though with their flat bottoms we had to hold them on our heads.
Here is Shirley showing the work table.
That night Dad and I went over to Nadine's and saw this Hallmark movie, The Reluctant Royal, which we both like a lot.
The sun coming through the parlor window the next day even made a rainbow on my toast.
I loved this story that Becky posted on Insta. I was very touched and since I need an angel painting to balance out a grouping in the dining room, I bought a print of it. Thanks goodness, because the original was $1700. BTW I met this gal at the frame shop at University Place, when they hosted artists painting in the store last December. I actually talked to her about angels and later sent her some scripture references about them that I had run across in my reading.
Then on Insta I saw a post that said that Elder Oaks first wife was a Dixon from Spanish Fork. It took some doing, but she is from the same Dixons as built these historic houses here. This is Coralee's house in the 1800's, which we ran into doing our research.
I thought this one was funny with the split rail fence in front, also of Coralee's house.
But my favorite was finding out that our house is on Wikepedia. Of course, this picture was taken after we owned the house but before we trimmed the window in black, put on a black roof and added the dormers.
At work on Wednesday I ran into a gal that Dad worked with at Associated and helped her decide where the best place was to sell a set of Fiesta Ware. Boy, that stuff has so come down in value.
These two were my favorite though. They were customers who just happened to be in the store at the same time, both wearing Frog and Toad t-shirts, but I think they look like they should be a couple.
I was so thrilled to find these pictures of your cousin Leigh on Instagram. She is Kristen's second daughter, and the only one I know of who got the professional artist gene in her generation.
Dad stepped it up and found a drain cover to put over the horrid looking drain in the main floor bathroom, since I had been unable to find anything to cover the discolored sealant around the drain. Dad said we'd have to rip out the shower and shower pan to change it out. He's so amazing.
After work we hosted a Relief Society activity with adorable pastel colored pots, where we planted flowers and veggies. I laughed when one of the packages said it contained "annuals" rather than a variety. So weird. I chose nasturtiums and leeks.
The gal in the middle was our presenter, Sky Johnson with her friend on the left and Cheryl Phillips on the right. Sky presented on blooming where you're planted.
Here are others working on planting,
This picture represents the colorful food Dad and I eat as we seek to eat foods with lots of antioxidants, to help with the swelling my arthritis deals me every day. This particular dish features tofu, and I found out this week that it is one of the foods that contain the most calcium, with nearly half of the daily requirement in one serving. Yeah!
I also thought this was totally cool and I am not sure of the name of the ap that can change your decor photos into bunny habitat. I did think it was perfect for the week though.
and when it comes to making the world more colorful, I thought Bccca and Brady's kids scratch off charts for states they have visited fills the bill for this week as well.
And how about Trevor and Nell's family going down to color country!
And speaking of color, how about this stunning dress for our lady in red ... as Eva goes to prom.
Where she got to wear this crown, because, well ....
She was the Prom queen at Prom.
Yep, we love this girl ....
On Saturday Dad had a Barbershop coaching session, and I worked on getting goods ready to go to flea.o.logy next week.
And guess who got to speak in church today for Easter. I thought it was funny that Savannah Christianson also wore a peach polkadot dress. I teased Clair Christenson about not wearing his peach and polkadot tie. Dad and I also got to sing Amazing Grace with the choir, and I got to sing Gethsemane with the Primary, since they were standing in front of where I was sitting on the stand.
And here comes Peter Cottontail, not quite hopping, but on the Bunny Trail nevertheless as he is living at home and planning on a trail of another kind this fall, through the Sierra Nevadas. Kai is always a good sport when it comes to helping out his mom with her events.
And here are some folks, McKenna, Eli and Adi who the bunny visited this morning.
Here's Scott's fun Easter Egg.
And Benny deciding if he actually likes Peeps or not.
and Easter Baskets for Scott, Eleanor, Eva and Penny.
And I just had to include this cute bunny with a face surprisingly like Nadine's, who sent it in our Easter Greeting this morning.
We hope your holiday was fun and left you smiling.
