Dad went to the Memorial Day Service at the Payson Cemetery Monday.
Tuesday morning, I went to get two crowns on my teeth in preparation for our mission,
Then I took Alysa to Tooele, where she saw her Dad and his girlfriend Geniel, and we got to hold new kittens.
Next, we visited Joyce.
Then it was off to the Draper Temple to join Eva as she received her endowments, in preparation for serving her mission in a couple of months.
At 8:00 A.M. on Wednesday morning we got to sit in as the Humpherys conducted a closing interview with the Lehtinens, our Finnish friends who are finishing up their three-year mission as Mission Leaders the end of June. It was a wonderful reunion for us, and so great to hear about their learning and growing experiences, as well as the miracles that took place during their tenure. Someday soon, the transcription of this interview will be available on the Church History Web Site. How cool is that?
Then I headed into work, I cleared off a cupboard I had sold so it could be picked up later in the day.
Then I put up 75% off signs, in preparation for closing the booth to make my booths at the mall more manageable for my friend Mary.
I'd made these sewing kits on Monday for my new sewing booth.
This is my favorite.
On Thursday a gal from my home ward, JoLane Moulton came in with her niece. This is me with her sister Cheryl Mouton's daughter. They saved our numbers, spending half of the money spent at the mall that day.
After work I headed to the Stake Center where I gave a short presentation to the Bishops at their quarterly council meeting about the importance of having a Ward Historian, and how easy it is to do the job, by just encouraging auxiliary heads to post on the Church History Site when they host an activity.
Next it was off to my book club where we discussed the book, Laddie, by Gene Stratton Porter. Refreshments were an assortment of Breads and Spreads. We had a couple of new gals join with us.
So I looked around and wrote down who was there, a preschool owner, a Professional Scouter (Holding one of only 22 bachelor degrees in Scouting in the world) a Lawyer, a College Math Professor, a Special Needs School teacher, a Jewish Psychologist, a Forrest service Naturalist, a Hair Dresser, a Pathways student, a Woman who works remotely while attending to the needs of her autistic son, and an antique dealer. No wonder we have great discussions.
The next day was the school breakfast for Charlie and her friends as the school year winds down.
How cute is she.
Just for kicks and giggles I like this window mural done by a shopper I met at Treasures 20 odd years ago. She lives in Pleasant Grove and is a professional artist, as you see.
Also, on Friday I got to meet the Urologist who will be doing a procedure to make sure I am all clear for our mission. The procedure is next Monday, pray all goes well, please. It the final step for our mission papers acceptance, and hopefully an official call.
Dad got to chop up another fallen tree branch, that fell during the high winds this week.
Not the biggest we've ever had, but it filled the garbage can.
Meanwhile Kai was bonding with trees in a different way.
As he continues his travels ...
Along the Pacific Crest Trail ...
It's all good for the appetite too.
Eva was also enjoying time out in nature, as you see here, she was hiking angels landing.
I finally found a black and white version of the picture that Alysa and her new red hair brought to mind, a few weeks back, Julie's hair was actually also reddish. I definitely see some resemblance, though Alysa here is almost 23, and her grandmother is more like 27 in this photo. (the baby is Alysa's Dad Todd)
AI missed on the hair color and made it too full.
But I like the tea party setting for them. Maybe we get tea parties in Heaven.
On Saturday I finished up a couple more boxes, so I am now at 8, but though I still have lots of books in line to be loaded (20 per monthly box for the mall) I'm running out of smalls, and will need to do some shopping in my house, as well as at thrift stores and garage sales.
The picture is of us at Nadine's having dinner. We watched a fun Halmark movie afterward which is called, 3 Bedrooms, 2 baths and 1 Ghost, afterwards, it was a lot of fun.
This morning we were off to Clark and Kimberly's farewell, as they head to New Zealand, on an MLS mission. (Member Leadership Support) I loved how they defined it. It is moving somewhere else where you live in and serve in the Church, just like at home.
The east entrance of their building is at the bottom of ascending stairs. (It's in Olympus Cove built into a hill) As you walk in it seems dark, until you see the huge portrait of Christ's second coming. Yes, the surroundings are lit by the Light of Christ. It was amazing.
The building is also unusual in that half of the front of the chapel is dominated by these windows; the other half is a normal wall covered with the pipe organ pipes. I mean, who could cover that view of the foothills of Mt Olympus.
For the strength of the hills was the perfect hymn as we looked at the majestic hills behind the chorister.
Here we are with John Boren, Clark Sevy and his wife Kimberly. John was telling us how these fine men, and others engineered the carrying in and setting up of a VW bug in the foyer of their ward building back when they were teens.
And last of all, Dad wants to note that the Finns won the final game of the World Hockey Championship. Go Finland!
