The week started with Mac going to Kindergarden.
How cut is he!
Also, that day, Dad mowed the lawn and I tried to kill it ... with paint stripper. This is the cupboard top I have been working on. It was its second day out ... man the varnish on this is unbelievable. After three stripping sessions last week, and another two on it this week, I will still be working on it this coming week.
Here some of the varnish bubbling up.
Dad got in the top section of the framing of the east wall on the carriage house, which we are now planning to call, the lodge. It's been a long process as he has broken 6 or 7 drill bits as he attempts to attach the wood frame into the I-beams that form the superstructure.
On Tuesday I went to Salt Lake where this fine endodontist reworked a 30-year-old root canal. He's a pretty amazing guy. The picture was taken halfway through the 90-minute procedure so the old girl could visit the little girl's room.
While I was in Salt Lake, Dad finished putting the etagere together, including making a new foot for the front, which is so perfect, you can't tell which is which.
Wednesday we all wished J. Scott a happy birthday.
Dad did more work on lodge, including doing the electrical on the east wall.
I headed off for a day of working at Treasures.
I spent the evening at a Relief Society meeting at the Family History Center.
with these gals.
While Dad went to a wedding reception for Zach Jones, one of our missionaries from our first mission. Here he is with Dad and his folks.
Mary and Zach Jones.
The reception was at the same place Spencer and Brittney had their reception ten years ago.
This gentleman came into the store on Thursday. I just loved the heart shaped patch on his tummy. He said he loves working with roses, but he always gets tears when he does. This is how his wife takes care of him.
I also moved all my 'guy' stuff to this booth in the back of the mall. Dad came on Wednesday to haul this super heavy particle board shelf from the yard for me. Thanks honey. Now I have more room for books in my 'bookstore booth'. it's been a fun project.
On Friday Dad went to babysit these cute kids, while I worked at The Grove.
Such cute kiddos.
We got this picture of some folks we love in Idaho ... as Trevor and Nell went to a memorial service for her grandfather there. Charlie looks on as they visit the Mitko residence.
My Friday started with a little Kayaking on Salem Pond with these gals.
The gal on the left came into the Grove, and reminded me of Sister Debiasi, the Italian sister from our second mission.
The gal on the left in this picture is a dealer at the mall. I asked her if she was Annette Lyon. She said no but people ask her all the time if she is a particular author. Annette is an author and a half Finn. I was friends with her mother's sister when we were in Finland.
I brought in some Halloween stuff for my booth.
Including this little gal.
Friday night we went to Micheal Banasky's reception in Springville.
These other missionaries, and a Finn, on the far left, gathered to help celebrate. The couple by me is the Mottishaws who served a YSA mission that started the month we left Finland for the last time.
Saturday was Davin's birthday. This is the picture Dad used to wish him a Happy Birthday on Face Book.
And the work begins. Dad gets home from running in time to help take a few things out of the car so I can go garaging. He found these skis at DI with me the day before. Last week he found ski boots that fit him, so eveyone invite him to go skiing with you this year. He would love that soooo much.
The last garage sale I went to was wonderful. They had a bunch of those Nauvoo bricks, like the ones I'll be putting in my memory wall ... just one was the larger size I plan to use, but there were about 12 of the little ones. They tried to get me to buy the little ones, so I explained what I was going with them. One guy runs all excited into the house and comes out with about 5 6-inch stones that were from the original Nauvoo temple ... I wept. His folks had served there for about 10 years, during the time of the building of the new temple, so the guy runs back in the house and comes back with another 6 stones that are from the new structure as well. Then they gave me a box of rocks labeled with where they came from, all these are probably too small to go in the wall, places like Joseph Smith's birthplace, the sacred grove, the Whitmore Farm, and the Susquehanna River. I decided to give that to Spencer, as that is where Trevor baptized him back in the day. It was a good day .... I also got a Swedish Style Moira clock for $5, that I'm putting in my Scandinavian dedicated Family room. What a day.
While picking up the clock in the van, later in the day, I drove by the Lindon temple site. How fun is this.
I stopped at the Fleamarket they have on the fourth Saturday at the Provo Mall. I didn't buy much but thought this recycled tire chair was interesting.
When I got home Dad hauled the super heavy clock into the house and took out the Kayak, before we headed to Judy McBeth's house to buy antiques. Here Dad and some of her sons help haul out a table we plan to use in the Lodge.
We bought quite a lot of items, and here Dad takes a rest on the step of the Grainery.
In the house as we settled up, I saw this beautiful striped rock ... I'm a fan of striped rocks and it's a beauty.
This portrait that was done of the house in its historic phase will go with the sale of the house.
Great door plaque.
And that night was the third wedding. This one was in Pleasant Grove. This is the most missionaries we have seen at one wedding. Whoa.
Such a pretty cake.
And there were random clear bottles down each table will with flowers. I loved it.
Here is Addey Blazer from our second mission.
At home on Sunday, we picked a few more Zucchini as we attempt to stay ahead. I made stuffed zucchini boats one night this week.
I also made Zucchini Corn fritters.
and sliced zucchini, yellow squash, and tomato casserole. I see lots of zucchini pie, bread, cookies, cake, soup, zumato stew and casseroles in our future.
One cool thing I found looking through items I had bought on Saturday, is this postmortem tin type. And just in time for Halloween.
This afternoon, with some zucchini in tow, we went to visit Spencer and Brittney.
Such cuties.
Van loves this book about who would win in animal battles.
and he even took this picture of me and Cam.
We used these cards to play animal battles ourselves.
Cam is feeding the shark. Such a nice girl.
She is also an artist.
A parting hug between father and son.
We stopped on the way home to drop some aluminum cans in Orem for Zach and saw Ashley's sunflower grove.
and her fun garden.
She has a lot of various peppers, including these Thai peppers.
Dad checks it out.
And that does it for another fun filled week. Lots of Finnish connections as always. We hope you all had a fun and memorable week as well.
