We Sherwood Like Some Potato Bars

We'll start the week with a little upside down Charley in our lives ...
and some pictures of Dad's completion of Darby's upstairs bedrooms this week.

He also decided we needed a light outside the Room of Requirement.
I did a loot shoot of my buys from last week in St. George.

A close up.
and I always love sorting buttons when I can find them ....

Missy was fun to have on board, though she liked jumping in our chairs in the evening.

Such a cute face. (Britt's family went to Southern Utah.)

As, strangely, did Trevor and Nell's family.

here's a fun one of Nell at Horseshoe Bend.

Slot canyon love with Alex and Charley
Here's Charley out hiking.

At one point, Dad and his stalker app noticed that Britt's family and Trevor's family were just two blocks apart from each other as Trevor drove through Kanab ... they never actually ran into each other though.

Tuesday night Dad and I went to see Jesus Revolution.  I liked it better than Dad,  but it certainly gives you something to think about.

At work on Wednesday, this young man, came in with his Pooh bear.  It was fun to find out that his middle name is Christopher.

Ross posted his trip down memory lane ... these three houses' original owners were, our family, Uncle Gene's family and Uncle Monte's family.

Here's a closer shot of our house.

Yep, Hartford street.  We moved to Bountiful when I was 5 and I have few memories there.
After work Thursday, I went to help set up for our Relief Society Birthday party.

We had a beautiful potato bar for our dinner.

I got to tell about Eliza R. Snow's role in the reinstitution of the Relief Society in the late 1860's.  What a great lady.

After my speech I had to head off to Book Club.  Our book was set in Lithuania, and Sandy, far left, hosted and made two native foods for that county. Borscht and Potato Latkes, both of which I have had before.  Here are Sandy, Suzanne and Ann.

Heather, KD, and Carolyn.

And me with Lillian.

Friday found us at Mosida, this is Sister Marvin, one of our new Missionaries.

In front, Sister Marvin, me and Sister Hardman

We danced the Virginia Reel.

We're all getting ready for a Leadership Training the next day.

Saturday dawned on Darby's 44th birthday.

and we head back to Modsida for Trek Training, here are Sisters Brimhall and Newman.

The Crumps, Sister Smith, the Hardmans and Elder Smith.

The Marvins in Pioneer dress, Elder Marvin served his mission in Finland.

Sister Lathrop and Sister Child. We served a lovely potato bar for lunch at the event.
Dad and a fun mural at a theater in Spanish we had never noticed before.

Here we are for an amateur family theatrical.

I thought the theater itself was rather charming ...

The Sheriff of Nottingham and Robinhood.

The Bishop was played by our friend Ed Watts.

Here he is with Dad at the end of the show.

Here I am with a couple of caste members.

The Conservatory door sign Dad ordered last week was in the mail box.  And here it is, installed. So we clearly have Mrs Peacock (Room color) in the Conservatory, with the Victorian Candle Stick.

Dad headed off to Stake Choir practice in the afternoon today, then we went to dinner at David and JaeLin Steele's house, up on Goosenest Drive.  I met them at  Treasures a few weeks back, and they came to see our house.  It was fun to get to know them better and to find out that Jim Epps and Gordon Peck, both of whom helped us finish the garret, lived in their ward.

Aren't they the cutest?  They also love working on their house and it was fun to hear its history and see all they've done.  They showed us the before pictures on their TV.

and lookity, lookity out of over 300 agents in Becca's office, she won agent of the month.  Woot Woot!

His and Hers Hobby Days

So Dad and I got to enjoy our favorite activities this week.  Of course mine would be crafting and junking, while his would be remodeling and a 'funeral reunion', he has definitely learned to put the fun back into funeral.
On Monday I headed to Orem to check out these books.  The lady was about my age, and has a grandson 'visa waiting' in Orem for a mission to Finland.  It turns out that Dad knows of the boy because his Grandfather on the other side was a Finn who served with Dad. I did get a full bag of books, around 20, about half of them to read and the other half to sell.  It was fun visiting with her too.

After that I checked out Savers, with no luck, went to an antique store in Orem called the Planted Earth, then Trader Joe's.
Then on my way down State Street to the Provo DI, I found this new shop.  I've tried a couple of other times to find it, with no luck.  Its been open for just 3 weeks, and the owner was formerly in an antique Store in PG called Rosebud Antiques, but the new store also has things from the Fairy House Antiques store in Provo, and the Cat's Cradle, another Provo Antique store.
When I got home, Dad had taken the rest of the shelving from our soon to be spa room and found a space for it in the food storage room.

On Tuesday, I headed out to Bountiful to meet with my art group.  Here are Shirley and Kimi. Shirley provided a kid for the little leprechaun hat she is holding.

Becky, who is a friend of Jann's came.  She is the founder of the craft and gift shop, 'Through the Grapevine', that was in Orem during the 80's and early 90's.

Here is Margie, who hosted, and Jann, who was actually doing the crafts.  She mostly just watches and chats, since her cancer has advanced, but she loved the crafts and did them.

In this picture, in the red vest, you will also see Joanne.

Margie's craft room is easily four times the size of mine.  She has taught craft classes for years, though she has slowed down of late.  She has about 30 shelves like this one, as well as lots of other storage and display.

On the far right here, you see Ann, who had taken her son to lunch for his birthday and came about an hour late.

I'm holding the mushroom I made, but in my other hand is the leprechaun hat with  isn't really visable.

This is a sweet set of 12 books, that are 2 volumes per book of Austen's novels, the set I found and bought on Facebook marketplace, and had had delivered to my brother Bruce's house.  I had a nice visit with him and Dianne when I went to pick them up.  The rest of the set is shown behind.  Each book is about the size of an index card.
During the rest of the week Dad did two projects.  He cleared out the rest of the stuff in the spa room.

As you can see.

This is a sauna for the new room.  He actually ordered it, but they have a 2 or 3 month wait. Lots to do before we can install it, so that's good.

Dad found out about Alex's award this week too.

Dad's other project was working on Darby's new flooring.

Its really coming along.

I worked Wednesday  and got a call from a neighbor who was looking for a gift for a friend who collects antique turkey stuff ... I took it to her on the way home, and she said it was perfect.  Nice!

This dealer brought in some newspapers from the flood of 1983,  We're all hoping for a slow melt this spring.

The guy on the right, who is a neighbor of Hannah's parents, sold this huge mountain lion rug to the other guy, who was thrilled to find it. He is a sculptor, and it was fun to see some of his work on his phone.

On Thursday I headed down to St. George with my friend Sherri Oldham and her daughter and four friends.  But I will show you what Dad had going on while I was gone first.

He went to see Dallas, Darby's boyfriend, and his brother as their band performed in AF.  Their Dad drove down from Montana to catch the show, and is shown on the far right.

Here they are performing.

And here are some of the fans, Dad of course is behind the camera.

Trevor's family went to see a Taylor Swift concert in Pheonix this week, and stopped on the way home to check out the grand canyon.

Here's my craft group's mushroom in my window display in the kitchen.

I drove down with Karyl (Carol) and Sherri.  We weren't able to get reservations for a temple session at the new Cedar City temple, but we did get a selfie.

We met up with Katie, Sherri's daughter, in pink and her friends at the condo in St George.

We hung out a played a game that night.

In the morning Katie and two of her friends, and I got to the market early and stood in line for a half an house.  Here's Katie mugging.

Me and Katie with our vouchers for goodie bags given out to the first 50 in line.

Katie and her homies.

At the show: Sock Monkeying around.

Running into Kathy Romero, who is one of our Fleaology vendors as she had a booth there.

Sherri feeds her inner child with the biggest cotton candy I have ever seen.

It was St Patrick's day and we thought this couple was right in the spirit.

This is Charlie celebrating St. Pat's with Crumbl cookies from her cute Mom.
And someone we know is an over achiever when it comes to St. Patricks ... hahahaha Since they are actually IN Ireland for the holiday.

Getting some vitamin D.

gone to lunch ... Sherri is very efficient with her tomato basil soup.

That's us, except Karyl, whom the waitress accidentally cut off.

Getting ready for junking on Saturday morning.
We drove over to Hurricane to check out an antique store there. I loved the brown  Pride and Prejudice book here, it is actually a purse..

This pig was interesting, because he is a prefect copy of my Mom's cookie jar, that I inherited, other than color.  The thing is that he is not McCoy, he's a repro, and is not marked McCoy, as are the originals. the name of the jar is 'Elegant Pig'.

Sherri, heard this gal talking and recognized her accent as being from North Carolina, as is Sherri.

We were told about how great the pie is at this shop in Veyo.  Behind us is the Veyo Volcano.

There was a very long line to get pie, but it was yummy.  I got the 'Veyo Volcano' pie.

We stopped at the Mountain Meadows Massacre sight on the way home.  Soooo sad, a somber site.

I got home around 9:00 that night.

Dad had included a funeral in his Saturday agenda, after he cleaned at our church first thing.  She was his  next door neighbor, from his childhood, Anna Ronne, and she passed away just shy of 95.  I met her as his Mom's visiting teacher of many years.  They're children were Dad's younger siblings ages, but at the funeral there were a lot of kids from the neighborhood that were his age. She and her husband we from Denmark, Werner passed away 20 years ago.

After church today, we were delivered an adorable Scottie dog.

Mike and Charley

The family is heading to go hiking.

Dad does some dog sitting.

Tonight we went to a fireside at Mosida.  I am shown here with Cheryl, who is one of the best recruiters for Mosdia, she convinced Lavern and Ron that they should come. Then, as you know, we decided to serve.

Here Elder Hardman plays sings some trek related songs.

Cheryl's husband wears the civil war army coat that was used for a prop in the Painting of Joseph Angell Young, (to the left) one of the first rescuers to reach the suffering saints.

This quilt was done by another sister who does these firesides, and each quilt square's Amish name represents some element of the Marten and Willey Trek.

So that was our week. I obviously got to do some fun stuff, and Dad got extra time to work on his projects.  We're both pretty excited about the new spa/exercise room.  He also has some serious fence installation coming up, as well as enclosing the back car port as a carriage house that we will be using for a family gathering room year round.
