A Week of Birthday Celebrations.

This week was a week of birthdays.  Its started with us celebrating Ashley's birthday a couple of weeks ago with lunch at Chili's.

We laughed at her shirt, since this is the only video we ever wore out by playing it so much.

Thn we headed to Highland to watch these munchkins ...

As their parent were at a work conference in Texas.

Tuesday was J. Scott's birthday, and this is Dad's post.

Hey, does this couch have a head?

Why yes, yes it does .... We took this couch lump to preschool on our way home. We would return to take over from their Nanny in the evening.

At home I brought this tiled piece into the house to measure to see for sure if it would fit the area for tile we have on the fireplace mantel in the library, it was pretty much a perfect fit.  Then I got out the wallpaper we have bought for the library to see if it matched ... I am so thrilled.

Dad meanwhile, worked on putting up the trim on the top of the brick wall in the kitchen, as well as down the corner of the brick wall behind the door to the basement.

Look how nice it looks, and it only took us something like 6 years to do the finishing touches here.

at work Wednesday, my friend Mary brought in this framed print ... I just love it, and she gave me a great deal!!

Another dealer priced a bolt of lace that day, and Mary and I both loved it, so we bought it and then cut in in half.

Here we are with the lace.

After work Dad and I had dinner, then I ran to book club at the park by Salem pond.  It turns out the pavilion was built before I was born.

Dad headed to help clean the temple.

It was a warm, breezy night, and the lake is just so pretty.  Here are Carolyn and

Sandy and Carolyn and another view of the lake.

Ann and me.

Beautiful refreshments.

Friday was Davin's birthday.

Britt posted a couple of pictures of Alex helping one of her clients move out of the house she just sold.

He even had a friend come and help.

I started Friday by walking with Ann, then went to the Springville DI for an hour or so, before checking out these four garage sales on the way home, with some success.

This family had their sale set up beautifully, and the food sale idea was the BEST.  Yummy, Mexican street corn.

That night we had a few people from the ward come to dinner.  On the left is Nicole Cook, then Tina Bartlett, then Cathy Beckstead, on the other side is John Carter (Who has done a lot of plumbing work over the years for my brother Clark, weirdly), his wife Kira Carter, and me!!

Kira made this beautiful and tasty peach cobbler.

Saturday morning we were off to Mosida to do a family trek.  There had been about a dozen of them the night before, but most went home, leaving these 5 to do the trek that morning.

Here are the missionaries and the family, who are related to one of our missionaries, Elder LaMar Jones, who had come and done stories the night before.

Elder and Sister Smith present at the meadow, just before the river crossing.  I think their family trek was about 2 miles in all.

Here are the missionaries who helped.

and its river crossing time ....

I always see so much beauty at the river crossing, for some reason.  It was there I first identified the yellow bellied birds I'd seen everywhere out there, as barn swallows.  Also here I saw the Eastern Kingbird. The week after a friend who had been on trek out here, posted it on his FB page.   Even better was the day that our young injured hawk got caught on the ground in the blind, he puffed up to scare us with his size and we got to watch him for fifteen minutes. I have also watched the seagulls here playing in the updrafts, like kids at Disneyland ... it just a magical spot for me.  And today there were dozens of little butterflies feeding on these weed blooms.  I hope someday to get to share a trek experience with our family.
Brother Jones carries his wife across.

That sweet granddaughter walks across too.

We stopped at Robin's Roost on our was to Salt Lake via Redwood Road. We met Robin at the dinner we did for Mary last month.

I dropped Dad off at a Barbershop show.  This is the group he sang with shortly before our second mission.
Then we drove to Logan for Abbie McCammon's wedding reception.  She is now Abbie Barclay.

Here I am with Abby's mom in pink, and Sister Christiansen, who was one of the group of Sisters who came a week after we left and then went home a month before we came back.  Of course we did get to know the elders in that group as they stay 6 months longer.

This morning I put out the pillow I got at Robin's Roost yesterday. I love how it looks with our orange throw.

Becca pointed out that this old picture has all our kids with birthdays in August. Its always been a favorite picture of mine.

Emily sent me this cute picture of Bekie making cucumber sandwiches for lunch today ... my sweet little fellow anglophile.

This is Dad's posting for Becca's birthday today.

Then after church, when we all met at a small reservoir  up Hobble Creek canyon. These ducks bottom feeding was pretty fun.  We were there at Hannah's invitation to celebrate Ben's 40th birthday, which also happens to be Becca's 34th birthday.

Here's Hannah's selfie with her family and ours all enjoying a wonderful lunch.

Here Dad and I head out on our kayaks.

Here Nenna and Reagan head out.

Eli paddling Hannah on her paddle board.

Davin and Bri float by behind.

Thumbs up!

Strangely, Rosemarie who manages the other Treasures building, happened to be doing a family reunion at the pavilion next to us.  How crazy is that?

Hannah and Scott.

Eli found a little snake...

Adi and Titan.

Brady and Mack.

Kenna was the duck whisperer.  They are running away from me, but they had gathered around her.

Becca asked Ashley to make her Crack Cookies .... since it was her birthday too, and here we see Davin savoring the last one .... such a big hit.

Here Hannah manages a paddle board headstand.

... and she and Scott work on a paddle board yoga routine as well.  How fun is this!!

Then there was a quick game of 'up ball' as we were all packing up. Davin figured out how did get the most hits possible.

Here's my 2,3,4,5 pictures, or the picture that grew.  First I took a picture of Ashley's friend and roomy, Lily with Adi ... Someone asked if they were the same age .... um no, Adi is 10 Lily is 30.  Then Ashley said, 'Hey, I brought Lily, I want a picture with her, but before we could take it Hannah came by and I asked her to jump in, then as I finished, Darby walked up ... yeah, you get the idea ... I was only too happy to add Becca too.

Well that was our fun week, happy birthday to you all ... we originally named it 'The week that began and ended with Ashley', it was so lovely to get to see her twice!!  We missed having Trevor and Spencer families join us today, due to illness, so please send positive thoughts and prayers up for their healing.
