Halloween and Baptisms Two

Monday, Monday ... I worked and... Dad stayed home and got a lot done, he finished up the window to the craft room...
and did the rest of the shingles on the front of garage and then he made me dinner.  Best Man Ever!!
On Tuesday Dad and I spent the day getting ready for our Halloween costume party for the grandkids.

Dad made his famous cup of'graveyard... yum.
He also made spaghetti, and we served it, right from the  pumpkins mouth...
Then the grand kids arrived.

 Nell made something delicious too.
The costumes were lots of fun.

Then it was time to gather and eat all the scary food.
Here we have the moon, the sun and Mother earth.
... and here's the sun with a Pirate Witch, if I recall correctly.
Here is Dad with his Grand Sun.
There are no words.

We also got to celebrate Titan's 8th birthday. We had a great time, and I am definitely going to make it a regular thing.

Several of us went over to Trudy and Gordon Peck's house for an amazing spook alley.  It was fun, even for us, Dad and I tend to dislike being 'scared', so it was the perfect mix.
First thing on Halloween, I walked with Ginny, as usual because it was also Wednesday ... we ran into a girl from the ward, Rosie, who had designed her own authentic African costume.

That afternoon I stopped by the Springville cemetery, as I'd been wondering what costume Ben would have chosen for the day.  He is always so much fun ... just missing him like normal. The funny thing is that it is also the day my father died, and I don't think I thought of him once all day.  I guess Ben's death eclipses what was the worst previous day of my life.
That night Rosie and her friends stopped by trick or treating, thanks goodness, we didn't get a single small child ...
We left this guy in charge of the goodies, while we headed to ward for a chili dinner and trunk or treating.
Here are a few ward members in costume ...

Dad gathered some spooky pictures on line to share and preserve for future viewing.

I worked Thursday, then Dad and I picked up Hannah and we headed to BYU to see a woodwind concert, where two of our former Finnish missionaries performed.

Here are some other former missionaries we ran into, Gavin Grooms, David Armond and Luanna Watson.
Here is Emily Burden, one of the two former missionaries who played, with a missionary who went home just before we got to Finland.  We didn't see Brenn Parker afterwards, but we saw her Grandmother,  Faye Wade who had also come to see her.  It was a bit 'old home day'.
On Friday, Dad decided it was time to paint the slated vent into the attic.

Friday night had a theme, Bohemian Night ... Darby and Dallas wanted to see Bohemian Rhapsody, and then Darby thought the Bohemian Grill would be the best place to eat.
Here is Zach, Dallas' brother, Dallas, Darby, Hannah and Dad.
Dad and I took off between dinner and the movie, since we were close, and did a bit of shopping at World Market, I thought these dishes looked fairly bohemian too.

This is the movie version of the band Queen.  Darby booked us into the VIP theater suite, which was sweet.  Watching this great movie from a recliner was seriously a GREAT experience.
One Saturday we headed out early to gather with family because ...
It was baptism day, and it was a little tricky, because Eleanor, shown with her Dad waiting for her turn, and Titan had services an hour apart.
Here we are with Eleanor and family and friends who came to celebrate her big day.

Here's Eleanor feeling wonderful after her baptism.
Then we hurried to Titan's baptism, his friend Ashton waited a month so they could be baptized together.  I got to give the talk about the Holy Ghost, and though Brady baptized him, Dad got to give him the Gift of the Holy Ghost.  When Brady was baptized by his father, he was also given The Holy Ghost by his maternal grandfather.  They offered Titan the choice, and Dad gave him a wonderful blessing.
Here is Titan with his family who came to support him at his baptism.

Afterward we went to their house for a nice lunch.  It was fun to visit ...

and Darby got in some more baby holding, at which she excels.

We had a chance to catch up some.

Meanwhile Kai and his team were competing in the State Finals for swimming.  Kai qualified in four events.  We're still awaiting the outcome, but we are so proud of you Kai. Kai is the guy with the HAIR.
After lunch we headed north to Ogden, where we went to the Acorn Antique Show.  Here's Dad with Cathy and Fred Cox, its been years, but was so fun to see them.
I loved these huge corbels,  but it was the $300 price tag that was breathtaking.
This sweet cupboard, is actually built around these antique Indian entry doors ... we have a set of similar doors at the Mall, but Dad doesn't think I need them.  He's probably right, even though it is Bohemian week, and they are so, well, bohemian, right?

That night we met up with the Kews for our Saturday evening session of Stake Conference, and then went out for Chinese afterward.  Its been too long since we have gotten together with them, and it felt good. And I loved the new place that replaced the old Chinese place here in Payson.  Steve, not so much, but then he did order orange beef, which even sounds weird.  I had Cashew Shrimp with lots and lots of veggies.  The new place is less expensive too ... so ... well, you know me.

This morning we left early for stake conference, because Dad was in the choir.  The choir was amazing ... a member of the stake presidency, who spoke after they sang, said, he had to turn around and look to make sure it wasn't the Tabernacle Choir singing.  The area authority, Elder Brian Larsen, said something similar and they really were amazing. The choir director used to do the choir at Spanish Fork High School, and is currently doing the choir at the MTC.  His wife was in one of the care centers, when Dad was doing that, so we got to know him.  He's a great guy.

The talks were also great.  They talked about the new two hour block, and how we will be focusing on learning the gospel at home, more than we have in the past.  What a great time to be raising a family.  I kind of wish this had happened when we were raising our children.

I had a meeting to plan our Young Women in Excellence program afterward, then Dad and I ate our left overs from last night, and watched the First of the Work and the Glory movies, now that Dad has collected all three. Collecting movies from DI when he must accompany me, is his new hobby.  It was a good day.
