A Week in Sunny July

Happy week in July ... here's a favorite older July picture, it's when Becca hosted the family fourth of July get together for the year.  The 'Uncle Sam' here is Elias.

This patriotic hat on Robin in from our cruise last July.

And these kids had some fun Monday as they went to see Primus.  Darby is so good at little family get togethers.  We love what she adds to strengthen our family.

Tuesday morning, I took the chance to set a patriotic table.  We would have Nadine come for dinner and a movie that night.

Then I ran off to work at the Grove, and Dad ran up to your cousin Matt's wife house that Becca is selling to figure out the deal with the sprinklers.  That is Dad's happy place you know.

Here we are with Nadine at dinner.  She wanted to try vegan burgers, or so she said.

She brought this movie, which we loved.  It's based on the true story behind

This 1800's English painting, which I have always loved and wondered about.

I went to work on Wednesday and Thursday.  This plate collector came in and bought a souvenir plate from his hometown, on the left.  Its Brigham City, the other is an advert plate for a business in Delta and shows the Panama Canal ... he said he had never seen one before.  How fun is that.

Shirley came and brought me some circus things to sell for charity. In the past I have donated to Trevor and Nell's Mexican town charity, but as the principal donor has had a heart attack, it is not likely to happen again.  We're trying to decide where to send these donations now.  Shirley found this German wood music box she loved, and I got to do a tiny bit of payback for all she does to help me.

This gal came in and bought the first circus items less than an hour after Shirley left.

Then Lyle Snell came in, what a blast from the past.  He had just bought a cream separator next door ...

After looking around he found this cream separator part that was bend on the one he had just bought, and happy day, it was mine so I got to give it to him. (I did not even know what it was.)

I took this picture of this rotating bookshelf to put in the Fleaology add on Facebook Market Place and KSL adds .... as it turns out it didn't sell, darn it.  I think I'll paint it and put it on Market Place.

On Friday I worked on getting things together for the fleaology garage sale.  Dad took off and went to Salt Lake to attend the funeral of this woman, who was the mother of several guys who worked for Dad when he was at The Store on 33rd South there.  He had a chance to see several of the people he worked with back then.

That evening we ran to the Riverwoods to hear Dallas singing with his new band.  Here Dad poses by a statue there.

I got a picture by these wings.
Here they are playing on the band stand. They are called Occupational Therapy.

Dallas playing back up.

Dallas seated here.
After a half an hour of enjoying the music I wandered into a couple of shops there I like.  This is the Heirloom Art Company where I bought Kristin Tye's Mantua Poppies painting.  Love this Norwegian girl, she was just a bit much for my pocket.

I have these bookends I use with my mini Jane Austen library, but I always thought they'd be perfect with the Peter Rabbit books.  I guess I'm not the only one who had that thought.

I also went over to Moon's Rare Books next door.  I love the place, the museum aspect anyway.  I've rarely made a purchase there.

This is what I got at the Heirloom Art Company.  I was just planning to buy the Children's Garden of Verses, because it was illustrated by Gyo Fujikawa, a favorite Children's book illustrator of mine, but then the clerk told me all books were buy one get one free.  So I picked up this Jane Austen's Illustrated Letters. I have always loved this J Kirk Richards painting of Angels ministering to Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane and was tickled to find it in a small size, since I have so little wall space left.

We finished up the evening at this restaurant near the bandstand, call Slackwater which opens on one side so we could hear the band.  A waitress on the left jumped in just for fun.

Here we are at the fleaology garage sale on Saturday, there were lots of friends old and new. We plan it on the Saturday of the Scottish Festival so we can get out of town customers.  It works.

Here are couple of sisters who used to do the old fleaology here at the house, they are very talented crafters.

And I got to see LaVern one last time too.  She leaves for Nauvoo next week.
Shirley came by to bring some more circus crafts and small bits that she had planned to give to DI.  She decided to bring them to me for the sale, and we sold every single piece she brought.

This morning in church Bonnie Harmon's granddaughter was blessed.  She is Gentry's baby, and Gentry still live in the ward and is the secretary in the Primary with us.

This is a picture of Mila, Grayson, Ember and Dedan in Primary today.  I had thought that this picture, that Grayson is holding, was in the gospel art kit. but no.  Fortunately I was prompted to check while in singing time and it was not in the book. The Sunday School president was manning the library for his son who was out of town.  He spent 10 minutes trying to find it under the old filing system.  Most churches have gotten rid of the old pictures.  I went back to singing time, knowing there was a video we would watch, but was sad not to have the picture. But Brother Johnson evidently continued to look for it, because he brought it to our class room after we started class.  I took the picture to sent to him to thank him for his diligence.  I think the story of Mary Rollins is so important.
After dinner we went to the concert in the park hoping to hear a pipe band as Scottish days ended yesterday, and it was too hot for us to go in the afternoon as I had hoped.

No Pipe Band but I did get to hear a band number built around tuba solos, how fun is that?  The best part is the name of the number, Palooza Pomposo.

Here is the lone Tuba player.

So hope your week went well, and that you have something fun like a tuba solo to look forwards to this week ...
