Cracked Ribs and the Best Valentines Gift Ever.

Another week behind us ... And an exhausting week, but fun week it was ...

It started with Dad's run,  unfortunately he fell and cracked or bruised his ribs!  Yikes ... He powered through the last 9/10th of the run and then through the rest of the week.
We hauled the table I'd brought home from the antique mall, up to the Garret for its transformation, also on Monday.

Dick and Tracy North, Dad's barber and wife, came down after seeing the Provo temple, and we had a nice visit.  They were also ward members from our Salt Lake ward.

I worked on cleaning and decor projects all week, getting ready for the open house.
I decided that I'd bring up my Dad's U of U collectibles, as they fit the red and white theme.
I thought this Indian light fit right in, since the Ute is the U of U's mascot.  Of course I had to paint it red first. 😌
I painted the black table legs white and Dad came home early and added feet to make it tall enough for a work table.
Here's some decor projects.
The little circus banner happened first thing Wednesday ...
And we added the white cresting to the table the last thing Wednesday night.  Actually Dad came home early every day to help!  I'd have never finished in time without his generosity in sharing the burden. All in all his helpful attitude this week was the best Valentines gift I could have ever hoped for!
Thursday I was off to work and then afterwards Sherri and Katie picked me up to go to Kim's Valentine's tea.
Here are a few shots of Kim's fun decor.

This is me, Katie, Sherri and Christine of Utah Vintage Yard Sale Fame.
Of course Kim has the Little Big Book of Valentines. I love these books.
And then there's me with the hostess with the mostest!  Yeah Kim.
Here's my planner/journal for part of the week!  So Valentiny!   When I got home from Kim's I found that Dad had come home early again and done a bazillion little finishing up cleaning and installing projects. He'd vacuumed the whole house!! Hung up arrows!  Hauled DI boxes to the van!  And ....

That made Friday actually doable ... I was able to get 98% of what I'd planned done!  Which never happens!

The library shelf change out would never have happened in time for the tea!  Thanks Scott!
That night friends stated coming.  Here are Joanne, Jann, me, Sherri, Kim, Kathy and a friend of Kim's

This is the Mannings, Dad served on the High Council with him, and my friend Lyn, who I met at 3dotters!
This is the cookie table. We also served  milk, lemonade, cinnamon tea or hot water with a choice of tea bags.

The Evans from our Salt Lake ward came too, they both went to high School with Dad.
And of course our bestest friends!
Shelby Midinger from the ward, with Trudy Peck and some family members.   The open house was super fun. We had 60 people come out to share our projects!
Saturday was busy too. I took off early with my friend Wendy to the Acorn Antique show in Ogden. She's shown here on the right with Lisa Martineau who has an antique store in Provo called Brambles.
Dad and I met up around one to babysit Becca's older kids while she met with clients. Here's Reagan!  She's going through a 'my' stage that makes everything so funny. My baby, my cheese, my chair ...

When Becca got back we headed to Highland for our Valentines party.  Robin made this amazing chili relleno casserole and Barb and I brought sides, including lovely cobblers ala Barb!

Sunday was pretty typical, we went to church, took naps, had a nice dinner and watched a movie in the evening!
This is a collage showing my inspiration for the table and a before picture!

Thanks for checking out our crazy week!

Renewing the Guest Room and Madison's Baby Blessing.

This past week was amazing. Dad took the week off to help get the house ready for our tour this week. We started on Monday by clearing the small guest room.
The gaping holes was left over from the leaky roof wars ...

As were the buckled floor boards in the only room in the house with real hard wood.
I spent much of the day stripping the wallpaper.   So time consuming we knew we'd better come up with a plan b
This is the before picture of the nasty floor.   Dad got busy and countersunk screws to hold the floor boards flat.
On Tuesday we headed to Home Depot, We got brick panels ...
And faux ship lap panels to cover the walls
I got to work sanding the floor with our band sander. This took me three hours, again we needed a plan b
Dad got all the wall panels finished up on Wednesday, even with us taking a break and having Curry at Takde's buffet for lunch.
I was off to work on Thursday putting this pic of my tea booth on IG
Dad rented a big floor big sander and did the floor.
On Friday we both worked on painting the stair case!  It seems so strange, it's been there for 14 years!  Now it's painted.

At Home Depot that day we saw this marshal arts figure on a van as a hood ornament and took a picture for all our Tai Kwan Do friends
Back at home we painted the panels and stained and finished the flooring.

I stayed up into the wee hours to make my cookies for an exchange the next day.
Here is the cookie exchange the next day at Jenn Reed's home.
My plate full of take home cookie
I went with my friend Wendy.
When I got home Dad had finished the staircase painting and had put the trim around the floor boards, so we worked together to put the furniture back in place.
I took this pano shot so you can see the whole room
That night we went to babysit for Davin and Bri.
On Sunday it was Maddy's big day, as her Dad gave her a name and a blessing.

We gathered afterwards for a great lunch. Buffet.
Soencer and Brit soak in some sun.

This is Becca's sister in law Armanda with Becca.
And Eric, Brady's brother with him.
Dad's making his panini.
Afterwards Becca and her family took us to show us their new house. This is Reagan showing us her bedroom "this is my wall!"  It was pretty funny.
Dad and I put together Hawaiian haystacks for dinner.  And Cheryl ate the chicken gravy on the rice, then had some of the toppings as sides. I love Hawaiian Haystacks.

So that was our week!  We accomplished a lot, but both ended the week with old people type sore muscles. Thanks for coming along.

Happy 63rd to Dad and misc.

This week started with Monday as usual.  I did a little Valentines decorating ... But mostly I sorted books and organized the library.
On Tuesday I sorted drawers and got rid of a lot of clothes, trying to fit it all into the dressers in the garret bedroom.   I also found time to do a Pollyanna blog on the new bathroom.

Then I decided to put together my Halloween scrapbook.  Last year it took fourteen months. This year one day!!
Here's the cover...
Here's my favorite spread!  And all because Dad was at the temple until late!!
Here's my new scrapbook/ family book / smash book shelf!  The 'joy' is the Christmas book I did with my art group ...  It awaits pictures!
Nell posted this picture of Eva dressed as the famous person she chose for a report. The woman was an early aviator! Perfect.

On Wednesday I ran errands, picking up stuff from half a dozen stores.  I finally went into Mormon Art in search of busts of our modern prophets. They had one of Gordon B Hinkley. It was stunning. I told him I'd go home and see if I already had GBH.
That night Dad and I went to Ben Heuer's court of honor. He earned his eagle award over a year ago, and finally had his day!!  Such a great kid!
First thing on Thursday I ran back to the Mormon art place, before work. I went in the back and saw the sculptors working on life size and heroic size statues!  It was inspiring. Dad had insisted he wanted the Hinckley bust for his birthday, as it was a little pricey. It's a beautiful piece and they only made 20 of them.   Above you see a replica of the death mask of the Prophet Joseph, with a likeness taken from it. We chatted about Philo Dibble. They had other wonders as well!  Loved this store/shop.
I then worked the day at Treasures,  Jenn came in and bought this umbrella from me ... And I'm pretty sure that's the temple suitcase I used when we were first married! I posted this pic on IG as #marypoppins

I went to book club in the evening, while Dad went to our ward's pinewood derby!
On Friday I was about to head to Treasures to change out a table, when I got a call from Trudy. I stopped by the house they're flipping and it was amazing!!  I love these transitions!

After Treasures I went with Becca to show a couple of houses to another flipper.  I got to play with the kids in the car.  I found out that Becca's been telling them Sarditart stories. Reagan was mad when I told one Sarditart adventure differently than her mom does. She said "I'm mad at you Grandma!".

I went to the DI in AF while waiting to meet Dad and the kids at Cafe Rio for his birthday dinner.  Coming out of the store I started experiencing flashes of light on the side of my right eye. They have continued since, and in checking on the Internet I've found there's a small chance they're a sign of retina detachment, which left untreated can lead to loss of sight. So I guess I need to get that checked.
Here I am with Reagan and Addie at Dad's dinner.

Cousin fun.

Darby brought cake!  And we all sang to Dad,  he had all his possible kids in attendance, except Ashley who was working a double!

On Saturday I worked, Dad worked on home projects, and we got together with the Kews for take out and movie torture!

Today was church as usual, except Dad went to get his hepatitis test read at the health department. After that we napped shortly and then went to visit Sam Peery, an elderly neighbor.  We came home and had dinner with Cheryl, who continues to be more conversational.
