Our Disjointed Week

On Monday Dad worked in the library and continued to do so for the rest of the week.  Here is a picture of the mantel after he changed out the tile for antique tile.

This is what it looked like before.

I made this Ikea meal for dinner, after I was thrilled to find out that the IKEA veggie meatballs are made with pea protein, since I am trying to eat more protein, but have to limit soy protein. We think it will be a regular in our menu selection, we always loved it in Finland, and Dad keeps the Lingonberry Jam on hand.

Dad went to Barbershop that night, and I spent the evening reading.

On Tuesday he continued to work in the library, as he got going on laying the new floor. I continued my effort to reclaim my craft room.  I'd spent a couple of hours Monday, and about 4 hours on Tuesday.  It's hard to believe that it still looks this bad, but at least you can see a bit of the floor, and things are not stack quite so high.
Wednesday was National Polka Dot Day, I wore my new red polka dot top that I got from Robin.  My friend Kelli is the only one who came into claim the 25% off coupon for an item in my booth.  She said it was as close to polka dots as she had.  So fun to see her and her daughter Kirstin again. I was so happy to see her that I gave her 50% off the item she chose.

Dad got into the mood of the day wearing his polka dot socks.

I thought this family was so fun.  The three daughters brought their babies who are within months of each other, while the Mom holds an older granddaughter.  I love it!

I finished off my embroidered/decorated hearts and got the last one put on the tree.

At work Thursday my friend Marci brought in this beautiful Norwegian cupboard, oh my heart.  I told her I was pretty sure I wanted it but needed to go home and find a place.  How wonderful would it be with Rosemaling.  Can you see the dragon design on the doors?  But alas as fate would have it, I already have a total of 11 cupboards or tall desks in this house. Yikes.  I thought of moving one to the basement, but the stairs won't work.  I thought of taking one into the store, but this one has less storage than the one I thought to sacrifice.  The 2 additional cupboards in the carriage house preclude another cupboard out there, or does it?  Maybe I do have room for my big dishes and linen cupboard that is in the family room, I could put it out in the carriage house ... I'll have to measure. All I can say is that it's a good thing I don't have to count my kitchen cupboards ...

That night we met up with our favorite realtors for client appreciation night.  They hosted more than a hundred clients for dinner at Sol Agave in American Fork.  We had the spinach enchiladas, and they were delicious.

Here are Scott and Hannah who also came.

We sat across from Darby, her cousin Sarah and Sarah's daughter Marley.

I sat next to Barb and Randy and they had three of their children there with spouses.

When talking about going to the movie afterward, it would be The Wizard of Oz, which of course got us thinking about our seeing Wicked together all those years ago.  Barb found this picture of us on her phone, it was taken in July of 2004, when we went to see Wicked on Broadway with the original cast. (Randy is taking the picture here) Then we looked it up to find that the play premiered in October of 2003, so we saw it when it was less than a year old.  How fun.

Randy took this one too, of us at Thanksgiving Point seeing The Wizard of Oz, thanks Becca!!
I worked on Friday at the Grove and put this antique Valentine into this artist crafted frame.

Here it is on the shelf...

I also added valentine stickers that have 1950's Valentine designs to vintage Christmas ornaments, also from the fifties, that I had put out for the DI pile while working on my craft room.  It will be fun to see if they sell.

another bit.

Then Katie, my fleaology buddy came in ...

with her adorable little girl. I thought she looked so cute in the crown that she had wanted, and that I had to fish off the top of a display with a kids rake, that I wanted a picture.  She was patient with me but was definitely rolling her eyes.

Katie bought this scale from Tiffany and signed Tiffany on to be a fleaology dealer in April, not bad for a day's work.  Tiffany is one of the other dealers at the Grove who work the counter, she is a lot of fun.

After work Dad and I took a couple of our Ministering sisters out for Mexican Food but forgot to take a picture.  Oops.

These are the girls we managed to make contact with this weekend, the two on the right went to dinner, Tina on top and Marie below her.  The other three Raelene, Heidi and Judy got visits.

On Saturday when I visited Heidi, she had this picture of a temple and thought it was the Payson Temple but wasn't sure.  I used the picture search on my phone, and it identified it as Payson, so now she knows.  How cool is that.

It's so fun to have ministering as an excuse to get to know new people.
Dad 'attended' the on-line Finnish Missionary Reunion with President and Sister Aura while I was out visiting.
Also, on Saturday I found this painting by an artist that Robin loves and collects.  I just love it because the gal has what looks like scriptures, and also a pen in her hand like she is marking her scriptures and is communicating with angels in the process.  I love it because this is what my Journal Edition Book of Mormon study has come to feel like.

Dad finished up in the library and got the furniture back in place.  These are his after pictures.

We moved the big white desk out to the landing where the computer desk has always been.  The white just clashed with the rest of the library once the wood floor was added.

Here is the computer desk in the library in its place.  We are having a group of Finnish friends to dinner on Tuesday, so I am pretty sure Dad will get the wallpaper up on Monday this week.  It's hard to believe that we put off this project for two years, and now it will be done in less than three weeks.  Dad is a handyman Rock Star for sure.  Did I mention that a widow in the ward called him to install a sink faucet, because she follows him on Face Book and sees all his Bob the builder posts.  I think that is a good thing.

At church our cute chorister, Heather Harmon did an activity where the kids could choose a dress up for her to add with each song.

Here she is by the end, wearing a lei, a poodle skirt, wings, a crown, pink cowboy hat, a pink scarf and a vest she put on backwards, because she already had wings by then. She is so fun and is also the mother of our precocious Emily.

Here is a picture that Dad found on Facebook of Alex and his friend Ash.  Pretty cute, eh?

And here is our Titan at Abravanel Hall on Saturday night.

and with his family.

How cool is that?

Well, that was our disjointed week, we looked and looked for something our days had in common, but other than me working and Dad Bob the buildering, there seemed to be no commonality.  We hope your week was amazing, and that you have lots of fun memories going forward. Much Love.

What Light Through Yonder Window Breaks.

I put together this little collage of famous women wearing polka dots, because next Wednesday, January 22, is National Polka Dot Day.  Yeah. I posted this and told my followers that if they wore polka dots and came into the mall they can get 25% off on one item.  Just remember that a five-year-old Eva said that black with white polka dots is my favorite color, she was not wrong.

Another granddaughter also figures in the blog this week, because Monday was Reagan's birthday, she is now 12.  This is an actual picture of me holding her in the hospital.

Here's Dad's collage that he posted for her birthday.

On Tuesday morning, I took a picture of this unusual moon that appeared on a painting in our bedroom. I'd hung a crystal necklace in the window to catch sunlight as it comes in, it's fun to watch the crystals cast rainbows around the room.

Then we headed to AF to take Trevor to lunch for his birthday, and since his sushi loving daughter only has school for a half day on Tuesday, we got her to join us.

The Sushi Garden Bistro was a first for us, and we did not order all you can eat, as we usually do.  I think that was an improvement for us all.

We heard about Eva's latest honor.  It's hard to believe she's a senior.

Wednesday Dad got his Jeep licensed, and brought the Elfaba plates that he'd paid $10 to move to the car I usually drive.  I thought that was nice of him, since people finally seem to know who Elfaba is.  (Note I am wearing my Elfaba school sweater that I got for Christmas from Emily)

On Thursday, while I was at work, Dad vacuumed and when he moved a chair in the dining room, he found the lost piece of our Jerusalem puzzle under one leg.  He was soooo happy.

Meanwhile, I was putting out my limited Valentines decor at the store.

On Friday we did a temple session in the morning and cleaned out the garage in the afternoon.  To be able to have Thanksgiving, Dad had moved all my antique trip to West Virginia goods into the right-hand side of the garage.  I have been taking in lots of the goods to Treasures and the Grove ever since; but the remainder covered the same floor space.  Between us we sorted the rest into a pile for Fleaology, another to go to DI, and the third to go into the Van to be eventually taken to the antique stores.  That left room for Dad to park his Jeep in the garage.  I felt good about initiating the project, because I knew that's what he wanted but had figured it would take another couple of months to deal with.

But that was not enough to keep Dad busy.  On Saturday he laid the tile in front of the fireplace in the library, he looked up the word for this tiled area and it is called the hearth.

Here is the tile he salvaged from an antique buffet splash board, that will be inserted into the mantel when he puts it back up. You'll note that he also pulled up the wrinkled brown carpet that was in the library and hauled it out to the dumpsters earlier in the week.

What light through yonder window breaks? Nope it's not the moon .... this is a spotlight that is supposed to simulate the light of the moon shining in our kitchen window.

Here's another view.

and one with the lights out in the kitchen.  A couple of weeks ago, some young people came and asked Dad if they could film a scene for a movie they were doing, at the house.

They wanted to have a young woman lean out of this window and shout at a young man who had thrown pebbles at the window.  This is lighting for the scene, no shots were taken in the house.

Here's Dad with a couple of the directors.

All windows are lit with spotlights inside...

Here's the view from the balcony.

Technicians

in the yard ...

The stars of the show.

The whole crew.

We took our dinner up to our room and watch mysteries.
Nell and Trevor are enjoying dramatics, instead of creating it.  They had their first visit to Ruth to see Ragtime.  A new era has begun.

Earlier in the day Eva and teammates are shown at her swim meet

... and here she is with her proud parents.
